Addblock - Tutorial + Whitelists

- First click on this link, it will lead you to the AddBlock Plus page on the Firefox website.

- Then click on the green "+ Add to Firefox" button, this will download the exension so it might take 5 or 10 seconds.



- After the download is finished Firefox will ask you if you really want to install Addblock Plus, so you clic on "Install now" button.
(I have a "Installer maintenant" button but obviously it's because I have a french Windows...^^)





- Quickly after that Firefox will pop-up a small window in the left top corner where it asks you if you want to restart Firefox now.
First check that you don't have anything important opened on a Firefox tab or any downloads that are still active (some downloads crash if you restart Firefox) because this will restart everything in Firefox.
If you don't want to restart Firefox, just click on the cross at the top right corner of the "Restart now" window.
(Again I have "Redémarrer maintenant" on my button but you should have "Restart now")





- Now that you have restarted Firefox you will have to subscribe to an add filter.
No worries, you won't need to creat an account or so.
Ok, so now click on this link, it will lead you to Adblock's official website

- Like you see there are a lot of different filters, some of them cover the same sites or have elements in common, but my advise is to just subscribe to 1 big filter that will cover most of the adds on the internet.
The one we will subscribe to is "EasyList", but you can subscribe to other one if you like to.





- So now you have to confirm to Firefox that you want to subscribe to this filter by clicking on "Add subscription".
You can also rename the filter if you want.





- Tadaam ! Your done with the installation !

- If you delayed the restart of Firefox because you had something important on your other tabs you will have to click on the "Firefox" button at the top left corner and then click on "Addons".
Or just clic on Ctrl + Shift + A.






- The you just have to clicl on the "Restart now" text.





- Now you only have to go back in this tutorial to the step after the restart.

- First download this file, it's ok, no virus, just a text file. =)

Or if you are really paranoid creat a text file and add this code :

- Now you have to import that text file by clicking on the small red "ABP" button in the bottom left corner and the on "Preferences".
Or just Ctrl + Shift + O.




- If you don't have that red "ABP" button in the bottom left corner lick on "Spoiler" just below.

- To actually import the text file click on "Filters" at the top left corner and then "Import Filters...".
Or just Ctrl + Shift + I.





- When the importation is done you'll have to click on "Apply" and then "Ok".
Tadam your done whith adding the sites to the White list !

To add more sites to the whitelist, just creat a text file, add the code above, replace teamliquid / justin.tv / twitch.tv with whatever site you choose not to block and import it like before.
