Hi there guys,
Are there any maps, or is there even any way to increase game speed beyong 'faster'?
I think being able to increase the game speed by some percent could be a magnificent way of training.
For example, play 1v1s with your friend with +5% game speed increase for a week, another 5% the next week, and so on, when suddenly, quarter a year later, you own every single 1v1 league match O_O (This is a rough simplification of course, but you know this way of training would help)

If you used the search function you'd have found this: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/search.php?q=speed&t=t&f=44&u=&gb=date&d=
It may not be exactly what you're looking for but the closest thing I can imagine.
To be honest I think it's a pretty dumb idea anyway. There are very few players who can deal with everything going on in a game as it is (like seeing every enemy blip on the radar) so making this even harder seems to be pretty useless. However as suggested in the thread you'll find in the link I provided, it can be a lot of fun to play with increased speed for once.

Let's say there is a set of things you are able to handle at the standard 'faster' speed.
When you start playing at +5% speed, which is not that much, in a few days(maybe less) you should be able to handle your set of things at this speed. Then you can increase again.
After such training, coming back to the standard 'faster' speed, it should be possible to add more things to your set, as you are able to handle your current much faster.
Thats how I see it.

Personally, I agree that it doesn't make a lot of sense.
I would rather spend the time working on just adding more things to the list of what I need to do. Something like the multitasker map can be great for this. Basically, I think it would be better to focus on always building scvs, then when I have that down I would focus on always building scvs and buildings units fast enough. Each time I master something I would pick something else to work on and add to my multitasking requirements.
The reason I'm not a fan of increasing the speed is that it has the tendency to completely screw up your timings. For example, larva injects. If you got used to larva injects that are happening 5% or 10% faster then suddenly in a normal game you're switching back to your hatch too early and either having to come back later (bad) or waiting around for it to finish (worse). It's the same reason I feel that having a slower game speed in the practice league is a mistake. Getting used to the timings of things is very important and there just isn't enough benefit to speeding the game up that make it worth compromising them.

It's like in Dragonball where they train in increased gravity to become more badass.
Too bad that's just a kids cartoon.
Until you're top GM and are doing everything perfectly already I really don't think you need to increase the speed in order for you to improve, I'm guessing you probably struggle to keep up on 'faster'.

What it really would do is wreck your micro.

I think this is a good idea and I have thought about it myself just too lazy to edit a map to try it. Not sure how the thread linked above changed the speed, but if you are having trouble with it you might be able to PM him and see if he could help you directly. Otherwise Imagine you could increase all games speeds by 5% e.g. movement speed, dps, etc.
To everyone commenting above. Imagine playing on fast now instead of faster and how much better you could micro and macro simulataneously. Given it is not like the game has been perfected at any level but to say you can't benefit from it is a bit close minded.

Funny thing is DragonBall is the first thing that came to my mind when came up with this O_O
Thanks guys, I see your reasoning here, and I see the flaws in speeding up the game. Still it could help some.
