Hello everyone,
As the leader of the Gamer's Guild (french eSport association) it's my duty to organize awesome Starcraft II tournaments ! Of course such events have a cost and you know that sponsors are indeed hard to convince when it comes to give money and support these events, in exchange to some exposure and visibility of their brand.
I'm looking forward for the next tournament that we may organize and that which may include European teams. I'm talking about an online event with an offline final, short in duration (around 3 or 4 weeks) but with max online exposition (website, ,recaps ...).
It feels like I need to show the sponsors how big eSport is, and how popular these events are. If some enlighted TL fellows could back me up with any visibility data (number of websites visits for a particular events, number of attendances in a recent SC2 event, number of viewing for anytournaments, simultaneous stream connection, this kind of stuff...) I would gladly be thankful because having figures is the best way to prove them (if they would be some kind of sources for the data it would be even more awesome).
I already have some data about MLG Colombus breaking records, but I feel like I need to research more. Help would be much much appreciated. Thanks for all of you !
To precise a bit : I'm looking mostly for SC2 data, but in some measures global eSport data are much appreciated. I'll keep this thread updated to make the next fellow have those data ready to use.

Hey Honorz, it looks like interesting I don't know how to answer to your request but i have questions : Have you got any website ? Is your tournaments internationals ? Is there any stuff to win ?
GL with your demand

Yup you can consult our website at www.gamers-guild.org .
The tournament we organize will be international. It's some kind of european event. Not sure who's involved yet though. Yeah they will be of course a cashprize, and that's why it is needed to convince sponsors ... ^^

Before trying to get sponsors to finance your lans, you should be able to organize LANs without problems. That's NOT a given in France. Though your objective is good, I don't think you have a good priority. Being able to show results of what YOU can do is way more important that showing what others can do, especially in France where everybody considers eSports to be a joke. Some serious and rigourous capicity to manage and organize events and you will be able to get sponsors to hear you.

Hey Otolia, thanks for your answer ; we've already done some tournaments that went very very well ; the association and our partners are confident to show what we can do, of course we have some stuff to prove still but that's not the point of this thread, we need to inform people about eSports and I think IMO it's by showing how big it is that you can convince companies of what they could benefit from it.
For example see Pomf et Thud : they have around 113 videos with 218 982 average views / video, imagine what exposition a company would have by putting their brand on it. That's why data are crucial IMO because only fact can show the potential of eSport especially to "surrounding" companies (companies partly related to eSport like electronic retailers). We have the trust, we are reliable, now we need to show why it's important to invest and what ROI it gives you. And for that you need data, data and more data don't you agree ?

Usual IFNG has 1200 visitors EPS FINALS around 3500 ^^

MLG Anaheim shattered the records of columbus. Over 30mil total stream views, unique is probably somewhere in the hundreds of thousands. Same weekend as EVO2k11, which got over 1.1mil total views on the finals day, about 80k concurrent uniques.

A noble cause, but getting your buddy, who shares your IP, to do this:
