Hello,

The GSL Tour in 2011 is divided into Code S and Code A
As open seasons are over, those of you who have not yet acquired Code S and Code A need to participate in Code A preliminary in order to compete in GSL.
Note the following.

Code S : Top 32 players in the league.
Code A : Next best 32 players.
Code B : Top ladder players who are given the right to play in Code A preliminary.
Interchange between Code A and Code S = Up & Down match
Interchange between Code A and Code B = Code A Preliminary

Code A Preliminary Registration Date : January 17th 00:00(KST) ~ January 22nd 24:00(KST)
Code A Preliminary Date : January 30th(Sunday)
Location : TechnoMart, Sindorim, Seoul, Korea
Format : Full tournament, best of 3
Maps : 1st set : Xel`Naga Caverns / 2nd set : Metalopolis / 3rd set : Scrap Station

We want as many foreign players participating in GSL as possible.
However, in previous season we noted that many players had difficulty finding place to stay, and therefore we are providing team house from this season.
At the moment the players can only sleep at the house but once we have 4 seeded foreigners invited we will also provide computers to practice(The exact date of when the PCs will be available is undecided)
Note that the team house can only hold up to 8~10 people. If you wish to stay at the team house, you need to send a) copy of your passport b) your ladder ranking to gsl@gomtv.com
People with the highest ladder ranking will be accepted to the house. Make sure you send them after the registration begins(Jan 17th 00:00). If you send them before appointed date and time it will not be accepted.
Make sure you send them after the registration begins(Jan 17th 00:00). If you send them before appointed date and time it will not be accepted.

Thank You

The system that currently exists seems to make it very hard for people to get to code S now compared to before...I doubt that some code S players would be able to say, go through not only being at the top of ladder to be code b level and qualify for code A prelims, and then go through an up and down match.

Anyway, sounds like some great news for some fresh sc2 stars.

It's really great to know how GOM is really assisting the foreign scene. Also after watching some of the matches from last night the observer was doing an incredibly good job, to the point where they were nearly improving on what tasteless used to do. GJ GOM <3

GOM helping out the foreigners with housing is a great step in getting international diversity in tournaments. Does that housing include food accommodations as well? With EG getting a house, and TL living with oGs, the foreigners should be swarming to Korea.
Venture Capital is better off spent on lottery tickets rather than investing in E-Sports; you'll get a far better return. The difference is simple: Koreans are tryharding at the game, foreigners are tryharding in real-life.

Hey John, just as a side question - how many foreigners had signed up for previous GSL open qualifiers? How many people do you expect to be there for the Code A preliminaries?

Would be awesome if you could share some of those numbers.

That said, good job on trying to be so inclusive and facilitating players from all over the world. GSL's prestige and quality can only benefit from having as many great players participating as possible, regardless of where they're from.

What is your cut-off point for GOM's standard of "good in ladder"? It is really general and is very hard to judge, as many pros tend to play custom games more.

Anyways, good to see that GOM is taking the initiative to bring more foreign players into the Korean SC2 scene and hope that this trend would also continue in other countries.

GOM, thanks for being so awesome. I think it will be a fruitful thing to have more foreigners spice up the Korean scene that will be lots of fun for Korean natives and foreigners, both in terms of SC2 play and community. Hopefully the SC2 foreigners will behave well and be friendly, learn Korean, etc.
