Inspired by the post in the feats of strength thread.
The achivement system in starcraft 2 feels a bit unpolished. I wanted to put together a list of things that players feel could use improvement. Oh and before we begin yes these arnt the most important things in the world and is alittle nit picky but this is Starcraft gosh darn it. It must be perfect!
1)Only 1v2 insane outmatched achievements no 1v3 and 1v4 (and yes it is possible).
2) 3v3 coop coverage insane achievement is green while all other insane icons are red.
3) There are two achievements named "Unbreakable".
4) Custom game vs AI achievements should make clear that they cannot be earned in the single player vs AI mode.
This is kinda just my personal opinion but i thought the "I win" and "Hello" were cool begining achievements. I would have had those two and the "Watch Replay" achievement be a set that gives you a larva portrait :p.

There should be some achievements for cool unit combos in 2v2. Like Medic-ultra, mammship-baneling, infestor-probe. Also, some achievements for worker rushing would be cool. Let me know when you patch them in.
|
Improvement or just a patch to the mastery achievements...im short 120 pts because the mastery achievements wont recognize i did them all...
|
1v3 and 1v4 were pretty easy, quick cannon rush ftw
|
i'm having trouble with achievements registering in campaign
i've done 6 on brutal which have been registered under the "complete 29 missions on brutal" however, on the 5/10/15/20/25 Brutal, it only says i've done 3 missions? oO

What's wrong with 1v3 and 1v4 insane AI achievements?
Other points seem reasonable.

1) The portrait earned for quick match wins should display a little badge showing the level they were earned.
e.g. Those two (so far) clowns who earned Zen Master by worker rushing should have a little Bronze badge on the portrait until they manage to beat the same number of silver players.
Advantages: Would acknowledge that not all wins are created equal. Would make 'lower' portraits more valuable (would you show the 50 wins portrait with a silver badge or the 10 wins with a gold badge?).
Disadvantages: More for system to keep track of.
2) Setting up a game vs 7 Insane AI for the 20th time got very annoying very quickly. Achievements like this could have an 'Attempt This' button which takes you straight to a game.
3) F9 and searching during a game to see how an achievement is tracking is very cumbersome. Another quick-key to display only the achievements you're interested in would be better.
4) In a similar vein as your #4, League Achievements could once be earned in Quick Match vs AI games but that has since been turned off. They should have left it on and created another set for Quick Match vs Human only.
5) The confusion in various threads on TL and the Blizzard forums attests that achievements like Raid Night needed a better description. And I'm still not sure if 5/10/15/25 brutal was a bug or if it too needed a better description.
6) Did anybody, anybody at all on the face of this earth, get Master Mechanic by completing the campaign 5 times and purchasing those upgrade sets? Or did you reload a save, purchase, reload, purchase etc. I hope the HotS achievements are better conceived.
7) Competitive Zen Master doesn't get a portrait...... why?

I would like to see the following Achievements:
Bronze Badge (Being ranked at least Bronze in all Leagues) Silver ... Diamond
Bronze Commando Silver ... Diamond Top 10, 25, 50
Watched a own Replay
Watched a not self Replay
Spected a Game
Would be my favourites

There should be an achievement for doing a brutal no-upgrade-run, to those few individuals who really want to cause pain to themselves.

Single player definitely needs more achievements like this. They were all pretty easy. The speed run should of actually been hard, but instead they make it ridiculously easy. They give you 8 hours to do what can easily be done in under 5. They should have more really difficult achievements that will actually require you to work hard to get them.

I'd love to see many more challenges with achievements like the 9 we do already have. The highest level should be really hard and challenging, the current ones are even on gold level pretty easy (and I am only a gold level newbie at the moment).
Did Blizzard mention anything about adding more achievements? Adding more of them with each major patch (1.1 for example) would be great.
And yes, fixing the current problems with the mastery achievements would also help a lot...
Edit: One more thing that is remotely achievement related. The AI should be improved to counter the easier cheese strategies effectively. Winning 100 games against the AI is not a real achievement if you can cannon, bunker or spinecrawler rush every time without any resistance.
Maybe it would be a good idea to make achievements in general a little more cheese resistant, although that will not be easy for some of them. Just an idea...

I will say this. For new players you learn timings, micro and hotkeys like down pat. Even allittle bit of macro too. but yah 100 games is excessive. I find it hard to believe no blizzard employee ever tried rushing an insane comp :p

I think more difficult SP achievements would be good.

I agree about the No Upgrades Run. And that the Feats of Strength Achievements should be allot more awesome, unique and harder. Killing a Brutalisk with a robot is like killing a Brutalisk with lava. Its cool and a nice goal but it should be a standard level achievement and not a Feat of Strength. Clearing the map of all protoss is great....on brutal difficulty.
And before people say that its important to have low level achievements, i know. Im the one who wants the "Hello" achievement back. I just feel that the achievement reward should match how hard the task is.

How can they call it a feat of strength when you only need to be on "normal" difficulty.

Achievements are average, whats worse is that most of the portraits you unlock suck anyway.

Yea, that's pretty stupid since all the "custom game" achievements can't be earned in single player vs AI. They are all vs AI anyways, perhaps they should change the name.
Feats of Strength should be on Brutal to be considered a true feat of strength-- and maybe each one should earn you a portrait or getting all of them earns you a secret one. Also, the "league combat" achievements should be restricted to quick match games. Allowing it to be done in coop vs AI is stupid. Actually I'd say all the combat achievements should only be allowed in Quick Match games-- if you can do them on easy AI it's very pointless.
Also, the medium AI achievements are inconsistent with the higher difficulties. Hard/Very Hard/Insane require you to beat a comp 100 times, but the medium achievements demand you win 100 times with each race possibility and random.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed with the single player achievements, in general. Achievements that are hard enough to require a good amount of practice, strategy, and planning are fun to attempt.
I hope Blizzard increases the "brutal" difficulty tremendously in Heart of the Swarm, and also adds in some achievements that are actually fairly challenging.

They really need longer streak achievements, won 15 2v2's straight the other day and disappointing not to have anything to show for it.
