I guess I should have put a [G] in front of the thread title. Mod edit?
Just playing around with stuff I figured out how to doom drop most effectively and load dropships more effectively.
Moving Drop:
1] Load up dropships/overlords/warp prisms. A single dropship to an infinite amount of them (apm permitting).
2] Right click drop location (move command).
3] Hold shift.
4] Spam 'D' , Left click (for drop) on every dropship. (all the drops can be selected at once while doing this, you don't have to do each individually like bw)
5] You should still have the crosshair cursor, just right click the ground to remove it, and right click much further passed the original move location again to finish the move.
6] Release shift.
Even after the unit is issued another move command it will continue to drop units once it begins (so be careful).
ALTERNATIVELY. you can split your dropships into multiple piles, send 1 to one side of the drop location, and another to the other side and so on. Then select all and continue steps 3-6. (so you can drop in an X or a V or whatever).
What it does for those who don't know. It makes all of your dropships drop units as they move to the last issued move command 1 at a time. This way the units will be more spread out and the dropships will not get stuck on top of each other clumsily not dropping.
Moving Lift:
1] Units in a pile or line.
2] Right click (move) middlemost spot of the ground units.
3] Hold shift.
4] Spam right click on every unit to lift.
5] Right click where you want to move
6] Release shift.
If you don't do it this way, and instead just shift click each ground unit, the drops will pickup, move slightly, stop, pickup, etc.
This isn't like the moving drop in reverse, but it does speed up the evac process and get the ground units and airships out of there asap.
And sorry, I would have made a video but my HDs are both maxed out >.<
Here's a rep, sorry its long and the important stuff isn't until like 70% through it or something. http://www.mediafire.com/?nio0959n8jv8b4n

I dont understand the difference between
3] Hold shift.
4] Spam right click on every unit to lift.
and "If you don't do it this way, and instead just shift click each ground unit"

Moving drop is very useful, glad someone made a guide for it since lots of people probably still dont know.
but whats the point of moving lift? why shiflt click every unit with transport instead of just moving and telling the units to go in the transport?

But the point is when you have a lower amount of shuttles and you wanna have them pick up and go all in 1 motion.

That is the difference. If you don't move towards them first, they won't pick them all up along the way and will stop and stutter for every unit to pick up.

Thanks, now other people can drop in my base better. (I underuse drops severely...) IN any case this gives me motivation to try it, and it actually does work. (Just tested it)

I don't really understand how you do this. I can get it to work with 1 drop ship, but not multiple.
Can you explain 4 better? I watched the replay and it didn't help.
I right click where I want them to drop, then hold shift, and hit D for drop (B for me with grid), then I spam click along where I want them to drop? I don't understand what spamming D will do if you are holding shift already. The cursor is already changed to drop, so why spam D?
4] Spam 'D' , Left click (for drop) on every unit ferry. (all the ferries can be selected at once while doing this, you don't have to do each individually like bw)
Could anyone explain it a little bit differently maybe?

I really hate to bump, but I really would love some help on this. I've watched the replay and a vid on youtube, and neither really explains it all that well

The 3rd step of move drop instructions is incorrect. Holding shift while issuing drop to each dropship will cause the dropship that carries out the command to start dropping after it reaches your right-click destination. This is because with shift, you queue the drop command until the previous command has been carried out (i.e., the move).
The right thing to do is to issue individual drop commands to your dropships without using shift while they are in transit. Issuing a drop command to a dropship targeting itself will cause the dropship to unload its contents even while it is in transit. In other words, once you issue a self-drop command to a dropship, you can "steer" it by moving it around like normal and it will continue to unload contents until it is exhausted.
(Note that you can still group select your dropships and issue drop commands by clicking on individual dropships. This is because the group selection logic will issue the drop command with the closest available dropship. Naturally, the closest dropship will be the one you clicked on.)

Yeah I can get it to do it with 1 single dropship if I tell it to move, then hold shift n click each unit it the dropships bay, so it drops them, and then shift click again where I want it to move. It will drop them along the line. I just can't figure it out for multiple ships b/c you don't have the view of the ships cargo. I'll give your way a try.

What you can do however is to hold shift, right click point A, then shift d click all your dropships, then still holding shift, right click point B, that way they will all start unloading at point A and continue unloading on their way to point B.
The best part about this is you can do this way ahead of time, so you don't have to frantically try to d click 20 dropships (zerg) and mis-click.

Yeah I just figured it out finally, thank you guys sooo much. I use drops a lot as is. I didn't understand / read the part about you hitting shift + drop button, and clicking the cross hairs on your overlords, I was doing it on the ground where I wanted it unloaded.
Much love for the help!

saw QXC using this at GF lan.

That's what I used to think, but warp prisms are amazing units. I've been keeping one behind my army on another hotkey and use it to reinforce without a static pylon, it's essentially twice the proce fo a pylon for a pylon that can move with you. it's amazing.

this used to be a lot easier when u could do wireframe casting. you could shift+d on the dropship icons instead of each dropship, that way you woudnt get confused which ones u already clicked on if there were a lot of dropships, and it was just way easier. damn interface nerfs.

Perfect~ charliemurphy. Works Perfectly.
Just a clarification: you do NOT have to hold down shift after you've issued the D command to each individual transport. You can click the ground as you please and it will still drop.
