I followed this series for a while - it was pretty good. I felt that the humor started to dry up in the Battle City arc, though...

Ah yes, Yugioh is just so awesome that you don't have to make any jokes to make it funny. Just tell the story as it is and it ends up being hilarious

Probably because the jokes got more pop cultury instead of just going through Yugioh's plot and showing how ridiculous it is
