I am a Mafia Roleblocker.

My night 1 action was to roleblock Alsn. (Had you pegged!) We killed debears mostly because of activity.

Tonight, there is only 1 optimal play for me. I can block Djodref (the only way for me to have a kill) and kill Alsn (cop). If I kill djo instead, Alsn either confirms a town or finds me red. Even if I claim I was targetted by a framer, it's worth lynching me because town can afford to mislynch, and discover for certain if there's a framer that way. Confirming a town is even worse, because he'd likely confirm da0ud, who is the only one I can really see myself building a lynch case on.

Tomorrow, we have me, Obzy, Da0ud, Rad, Djodref alive. I would have to convince two of obzy daoud rad to lynch the third. (Djo is both unswayable and confirmed town.) But people are so certain about me that I'm not sure I could pull this off. Then I'm wrong about my lynch target, and I have to convince whoever's left not to lynch me and push them to win ANOTHER mislynch. (at least Djo would be dead for this one)

I was briefly considering trying to test if there WAS no power role, and ignore Alsn (taking for granted that Alsn counterclaimed to get Clarity lynched). If he isn't really a cop, he's an easy lynch target for lying about his role. And I wouldn't have to deal with Djo. But I'm just TOO certain that Alsn is Cop.

##Concede

GG. I think this is going to be my last TL mafia game. The sustained activity requirements are way too high for me, and being called out for only having a 5 page filter on day 2 I find really demoralizing and disheartening, regardless of my alignment town/scum. When obzy made his post about it, it really resonated with me.

I find it interesting this game that Djodref and Alsn basically functioned as Named Townies and never actually used their power roles. (Even tonight, if I went with the "standard play" - neither blue role would take an action)
Credit goes to obzy and Rad for being really good VTs. I really like your VT play. Obzy, you're a better reader than you're willing to admit. Rad, I like that you found a style of play you like that doesn't focus too much on filters and focuses instead on discussing comments you find odd without tons of backtracking. I'd like to believe that I play like that too.

Clarity was a fun scumbuddy, I probably failed him by not bussing him very well because Djo is too hyperactive about making cases and I write them too slowly. (The number of things I deleted from my posts because someone else said them first was frustrating!)

Because you asked, the games I've played on IRC, they're modded by a bot and usually have 15 minute day cycle with instant majority lynch. At night, the room is silenced and people PM their night actions to the bot. In fact, I've never played without instant majority lynch, and I've never played with posting being allowed at night (we didn't allow it in mafia games on our guild forum either). It would have actually helped us Day 2, ending the discussion early as Clarity gets strung up before the roleclaiming shenannigans resolved. (And a clarity selfhammer would actually be potentially helpful here, too.)

Hey, I can edit now. Muahaha

Given what we know about the mechanics of this game. A roleblocker can kill me tonight with impunity. There's absolutely no reason to not do so, so if there is, he will. I guess a roleblocker could theoretically kill djod and roleblock me if he has good reason to suspect Djod won't target him tonight, but I don't see the point in doing that(the outcome will be the same, one confirmed town killed, one confirmed town left alive) other than that the final scum wanting to mindfuck us with regards to whom we suspect. In any case, the latter is only really possible if Djod picks the wrong target, a situation where we would get mindfucked either way.

If there's not a roleblocker and Djod targets the remaining scum, no one will die and it should be pretty easy to figure out an optimal course of action during the next day based on who he actually targeted.

Basically, I think the only thing we can really control is Djod's target tonight, he should just take great care to try and pick the correct one. I should obviously use my power on someone in the hopes that there isn't actually a roleblocker, but the success of it is completely out of my hands.

That being said, I'll try and actually go through some filters before I (probably) die tonight in the hopes of finding some actual evidence.

sylver, I think this game was pretty unique in the way it progressed. I don't think you should listen to people criticising you for your filter. No one would base a case on that(or if they did, no one would listen to that particular argument).

There was a problem in the setup which marv was forced to correct really quickly but unfortunately he didn't have time to do so(I made a stupid statement which Rad found before I figured out what was happening or what it meant).

I'll hold off on stating the details until there's an official word about the game's end, but yea, I don't think this game was particularly fair against mafia because of it. :/

Sylver, the posting at night thing is just a host preference thing here on TL I think. There's a good reason why talking during the night is not allowed in IRC games, because then scum would be forced to try and talk to each other and make it look like they were participating in the town during a pretty short interval. With a 24 day long night there's not nearly as much stress and pressure on people to make it easy to find out why people may or may not be posting "as much" as during the day.

In hindsight, I think you guys did pretty well considering. I'd say your biggest mistake was not outright stating that you were suspicious of the circumstances around the Cheese lynch. I had exactly one way in which I could find you town and that was because I found the positions you ended up in were so hard that you couldn't possibly have planned it(both of your main suspects Cheese and debears dying D1 and N1).

GG sylverfyre !

I think the game was sealed over the Cheese incident. I went lazy at the end but the association between Clarity and you was quite strong and it was the main reason for me to be so crazy about you. The attempts to soft-defend and to put distance between you are not so bad but there was no follow-up nor back-up for some posts. Your bus of Clarity was a little obvious because you showed absolutely no doubt of him being scum.
On the opposite of the other game, town was quite active and post their heart out of the game. It was a very emotional game so we didn't need so much rational analysis.
I'm looking forward to discuss this game even more after the end post

I thought that your Cheesecake case was a way out for your scumbuddy
It was the first time to see you post a case in a condensed post after only 2 hours
On top of that, there was some serious double standards involved.

Oh and yea, I definitely agree that Obzy plays better than he gives himself credit for. Had he just not bothered with the somewhat self-demeaning attitude coupled with higher confidence in his reads, he would've been the very model of a text book VT.

Bah, why the fuck Djodref left his posting hat in my room I have no idea...

You were somewhat right that I made that case pretty quickly. But I type pretty fast.

Also, I had been slightly suspicious of Cheese for a long time(I blame Obzy! He kept dropping those god damn hints!) so I had a pretty good idea of why I found him scummy.

Cheesecake was so funny during the end of D1, reconsidering...

I'm not going to push a Djo lynch again, mainly because arguing with him is a game of cat and mouse. I think neutrality is going to become an integral part of my play D1 anyway. Taking a huge stance this early just doesn't seem all that feasible for me, because a lot of my arguments are "nit-picky" as Djo calls it. Once the first person flips, things become a lot more clear to me based on context and I can go from there.

At this point, the only reason I'd vote for Debears is to get concrete info, which isn't a good thing. I'd vote Clarity because his Debears counter-case is really OMGUSy and he seems like the person to actively lurk.

Brb dinner. Also, Regular Fapper.

I'm just going to be neutral, D1 is random anyway. By the way I'm Regular Fapper !

Everyone seems so concerned on why I haven't been pushing my case on Djo. You know why? Because everything that I find scummy about him, people attribute to his "Djo" attitude and the way he words things. I made a ton of mistakes last game that I find him doing this game. I point them out, but the entire thread is just like "You know, it's just Djo being Djo". Incredibly frustrating. I dropped my case and accusing him of scummy behavior because I actually didn't feel like hitting my head into this brick wall anymore. So, I decided to go back to a neutral stance and look at what other people were doing.

His 180 on pressure voting is something that I found to be damning as hell (Alsn, I think you agree on this?) He explains this by giving some sorry excuse about the difference between suspicion votes and pressure votes and blah blah blah. You know what? Fuck that. Djo is scummy as hell to me. Was last game(regardless of me being scum), is this game. I don't give two shits how he handles the language or his defense. The only reason he gets away with a ton of his posts is because his meta is cheerfully innocent.

Also, Djod, you were convinced Clarity was scum for a really long time, right? Because I wasn't and I definitely didn't see his claims about the Cheese incident as impossible, just unlikely. Given that we now know that Rad actually did PM marv to ask about the VT flavour the speculation for why he said what he did seems entirely plausible.

I kept thinking that there was a chance that he was telling the truth about trying to "fake" a possibility for scum that he was either blue/VT but was really VT in order to protect the real blues(you and me) until he claimed cop.

Endgame

Hurrayyyyyyy!

sylverfire read the email on his phone dejectedly. His trusted partner was gone, no longer here to help. He had heard the whisperings and feelings amongst the others of the circle, and the omens were not good.

The lawsuits that he had pushed through the courts had all been decidedly rejected; who knew judges were such... jerks? The presence of an elite hacker had prevented him taking down the inner circle by nefarious means as well. His options were running out...

The group once again convened to discuss matters. The fact that Clarity_nl had been an infiltrator came as a surprise to no-one. Worse for sylverfire, they probably knew what they were going to do next as well.

With a smirk, sylverfyre rose from his chair.

"Well, gentlemen. I think the time has come..."

With that, he quickly drew his gun.

"You fools," he snarled. "You have caused the downfall of the greatest industry on the planet, and now you will pay for it!"

sylverfyre heard a faint click behind, and something pressed into his back.

"Not so fast, douchebag," said Djodref, returning from an impromptu fap session in the toilet. Some people just can't help themselves, ya know?

sylver span around quickly, eyes blazing. But clinically, Djodref shot the dude right in the dick, and that was that.

sylverfyre, the porn industry leader, was brutally incapacitated!

The world had once again returned to its happy equilibrium. Free porn was plentiful and abundant, and people fapped away merrily without a care in the world. Gradually paid for porn became less and less available, as the free 'industry' took over.

The greatest mission the world had ever seen was complete - 7 men were responsible for world peace and freedom, and they rejoiced. Then they went home to their computers and enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

Djodref, Porn Afficianado and Master Poster, fapped victoriously!
Alsn, Elite Hacker, saved the world!
Obzy, Regular Fapper, happily fapped regularly!
Rad, Regular Fapper, spread his seed!
da0ud, Regular Fapper, bought a new supply of tissues!

Town wins!

Some quick post-game comments:

As Alsn alluded to, I made a mistake in the setup of the game where I included the VT role PM in scum role PMs, but not in the role PMs of blues, which I only corrected part way through Day 1. This led to a situation where the blue roles basically had a little more information than they should have. This led to a slightly unfortunate situation for Clarity, which could have been avoided, on his part, with a better planned reaction to Mr. Cheesecake's claim.

Activity

Ultimately, though, the game was won by town's activity and by how well town played. Especially in a small setup, there are very few places for scum to hide if all of town contribute and make themselves townie. Actually everyone posted plenty this game, and it was only the extraordinary levels of debears and Djodref that made others look pale in comparison, but even Obzy and da0ud had pretty decent length filters for the length and size of the game.

Obzy usually posted concisely, constructively, and despite his own insecurities, played a good game, making himself look clearly townie, with good analysis.

da0ud played a solid game also; while posting less than others, when he did post he clearly had town's motives in mind.

Rad, while not quite getting the right answers this time, again made himself look clearly townie with the manner of his analysis.

Generally, this is what a town performance should look like. When everyone is active and contributing, the game becomes much, much harder for scum. In TL, Newbies or non-newbies, this level of activity from town is rarely reached, and so scum has an easier time. Scum didn't really do that much wrong, they just weren't able to make themselves seem as townie as all the other townies were doing.

Regarding Clarity

I think he has made some small mistakes during D1 which have irked me a little
  • The list of null reads with no actual follow-up, his defensive reaction when he has been called for it at first
  • His interactions with me, especially when he backed off and chose to not post his case when I was proposing myself as a lynch candidate. This one was huge for me because I knew my alignment. He was really not consistent in his confidence on his read on me
  • Blending in and taking the back seat. I found that no pushing by himself in order to not clutter the thread was a bad excuse

After the Cheese incident, I've found out that his interaction with Cheese was quite weird as well and I couldn't believe that he had PMed marv way before about the flavor because nobody else has done it. And him hitting at being blue was the icing on the cake.

Yea, the problem with the setup was that we blue roles did not in fact know about the VT role PM.

Actually though, I didn't even pay much attention to Cheese's Regular Fapper claims. I think I probably realised in the back of my head somewhere that he was saying that he was VT, but I didn't pay much attention to it until the thread blew up.
