If Korean teams of this profile fall apart due to management issues nobody is likely to be safe.
Unless of course it is a one-off due to Jessica.

Out of all the progamers I've met over the years none of them have been as nice and sincere as MMA... I hope all the misunderstandings are cleared up as soon as possible.

I don't know why, but it seems like stuff is missing, there must be a lot that is being left out because right now the narrative makes less than total sense. Probably caused by the translation imo. It's hard to have a perfect understanding of a language if it's not your native one. Especially with Asian languages. Choose to not translate a character because it seems not important but in fact change the entire meaning of the sentence. Might be true that she's leaving some things out because she forgot exactly how it was or lying/making things better for her tho. Anyway, i tend to believe her side of the story at least until i got an other point of view. Boxer leaving the team was a huge tell that something was wrong and i'm sure he would have been angry with Jessica if she was doing something bad. Another proof that managing a team is a fulltime job that takes more than just good will to be done correctly. Teams need to step up and hire qualified people to do that. No such thing as qualified people for this kind of managerial role. They are managing a competitive esports team, not a KFC. You hire on relationships and judge of character. Unfortunately the people who appear the most capable and go-getting are usually covering things up and/or have a tendency to put themselves first! I'm going with Jessica's sense at least with manager J.

That said the same community got confused over whether stephano raped a 14yr old so I suppose we should preprare for ESF = KESPA equivocation threads.

I wish we could get the full details on that. I mean he is 23, not to say he is immune to being swayed but I could see the younger players being much more subject to a managers influence than older players.

I had so much respect for this team. I would never have imagined that all this would happen behind the scenes. I'm seriously at a loss for words.

Korean e-sports scene is absolutely F***** Up. Seriously. If this is all true, I'm glad I'm not part of that drama. And the whole switching to LoL thing, I can understand I guess. I mean its easier to win as a team than it is to win as an individual. Further, if they can make more money or retain a less hardcore practice schedule and still do well thats fine.

I hope MMA have a really solid answer. Until now, for myself, i'll boycoyt every MMA match for what it's worth (meaning nothing). As a huge fan and follower of Boxer i really can't understand how you could disrepect the man. If this kids can be paid playing video game, it's because of him. Oh please, is anybody seriously buying this "he did x, so now I don't want to play" bs? MMA is just used as scapegoat and excuse. Why not ? Did you never have a passion that somebody crushed ? I've had a few situations where I was given a mild push into direction I was going to anyway. Then you are quite a lucky man. Whas this passion something you gave your WHOLE life ? People keep playing music instruments/painting after losing hands/sight. People keep racing cars after breaking every bone in their body. People keep on living after losing their whole family to disasters. Teachers keep on teaching to ungrateful shits, while getting severely underpaid. You're seriously going to tell me that something a 18 year old said is severe enough to call "crushing passion"? When a 18 year old is touted as a "son", I would give it consideration. Imagine a son telling his father that he doesn't trust him. This. Sounds to me like Boxer and Jessica should have kept all of this strictly business. Because they invested so much emotionally they end up hurt like this. And I can't find the post anymore that says that this seems to be about a difference in mentality between generations and I think that's true, to a certain extent. I think it's just a difference of general perspective. Boxer comes from the Kespa side which is all professional and extremely dedicated to working on the game itself. Most ESF players have admitted that they moved to SC2 to relax more. I think Boxer modeled Slayers after SKT T1, which went very well. Slayers was doing quite well earlier and there was a nice team atmosphere (remember when they won their first GSTL). Not sure what happened afterwards so it's become like this in the end. Probably a mixture of mismanagement, lack of communication, and inflated egos. I blame foreign money. Boxer's generation built up the BW proscene from the ground up, it was all or nothing. These SC2 kids, they see players in foreign countries half as good as them making twice the money even though Starcraft is supposedly Korea's game. In that regard it isn't too surprising to see MMA, Alicia and Crank act the way they did.

According to her almost everyone (players, teams, organizations) did something bad. Its all just Jessicas side of the story. I have the feeling she is responsible for a lot of this. yeah it definately is. And as allways there will be some truth in it, but also a lot of exaggerations. Especially that bully thing. Maybe there were single examples of Slayers players being bullied. I highly doubt, that eSF orders its teams and players to bully every player on Slayers. There is just simply no reasoning behind it and it would cause major damage to the federation if evidents for it came out. Truth may be revealed in the next days. I definately see a statement from eSF incoming. Let's wait for that. TL and reddit just blame jessica for everything, crank leaving and lying about it? Jessica is upset, guess what it was her fault that he lied. Oh lying is fine? Tell that to orb who lost his job over overly obsessive people because he lied about calling someone else a "nigger". Same shit over and over again, open your eyes blind man.

Also, unless there is some sort of statement from MMA, Ganzi and Co. or other slayers players, I can't find myself beliving the whole "Jessica and Boxer are victims"-picture. I don't know if thats just imprecise translation, but them "not liking" that people were "hanging around" MMA sounds like Crank's "Who do you think you are?" was more than justified. Also, Jessica relying on some contracts when shit gets deeply personal is just pathetic.

Since it is so much more popular in Korea right now, this hopefully is not the start of a trend. Otherwise this will be known as the 'Sad 17th' indeed. Really would be nice to see MMA return to glory someday again. He deserves it.
