1) Smurfing into the league was of course a despicable act that was committed due to jetlag in Thailand. It was for the lulz.
2) Posting in this thread whining about echo being better than me - I do not lose or gain anything from saying the things I say. I just wanted to motivate him; even if its not fun for him, it is clear that he is better than me and most people who are in this league, including you and many other "C-" players. I'm trying to convince him that it is worth it to ladder to test your worth as a player.
3) There was no walk-over, I PM'd because I didn't want to make a publicly huge deal of the fact that Gao lost 3-0, and has henceforth dodged me at every opportunity stating something along the lines of "fuck protoss." I didn't want to be inflammatory or to single him out, considering, like I said, "It's not my place..." The fact that I spend 60 seconds while drunk typing things does not equate to my excessive amount of caring for "D"R anymore. I am just stating opinions,.

Well, whatever the case may be, I know I am solidly D. Finally laddered a bunch. 44 games now, which is 40% of all ladder games I have ever played on iccup and I am at 1300 points. I usually win every third. And if I don't kick out D+ players, then I nosedive into a 6 loss streak. (I was at 1500.)

I started playing them just because I needed practice for the tourney and no D Protoss were joining but yeah I'll probably do it again even if I nosedive in points further. Didn't help for the particular match, but I guess over time.

If you have 75%+ vs D/D+ (same rank maybe 1+ rank) you hit C- in 24games (18-6)
and so on...
The point, since the league is not formatted to have endless peak (i.e if you are playing Gambit you can be b- to A+++) you probably should NEVER exceed 60% win unless you get lucky and play the bottom level opponents all the time. (which is unlikely because you see these c- ~ or higher guys continually play)
Finally, if you guys don't do any change then please stop with the continuing rank problem QQs because they can't be fixed other than removing people with these win rates after a season/tournament concludes.

I'll be leaving D ranks events after this season because I'll be working on my ZvT; my ZvZ and ZvP are borderline C- and the only Protoss in the league who can consistently beat me is prophecy_ (that I know of). And he's too strong for D ranks too. I'd venture to say L_Master is too good; I don't know enough about the Terrans but it wouldn't surprise me if there are others too. And the truth is sB is going to have a hard season because most of our players are legitimate D and D- and barely D+ players, with icedraco and I being the exceptions, and we're both essentially C- players. But it shouldn't be that legitimately D ranked teams are struggling in the DRTL. I ll have more time to play from October onwards, then this will change. But I have to say, I always have to play the good players in this league, I think most of my losses are to guys like Shuruken, Babo, (Obelisco), aeghrur, CityShuffle etc.

Hm. Interestingly, the D ranked leagues have been going on long enough that even if no-one ladders, you could basically figure out if they would have reached C using the iccup system. Or if you prefer calculating the individual and teamleague separately.
So (1000 + games won * 100) - (Games lost *50)
Calculating a few at random, there are a couple that bump over 3000, but there is a greater number that would be on the very top end of D+, but would no doubt be C- in the next season once the first batch were gone. Of course there is the problem with feeding the bottom if we promote players into C. Then again how bad is the attrition in the D/D- if they are consistently matched up against potential C- players?
Theoretically, you could have the current system for letting people into the D league, but use the iCCup ranking system to keep people in the D league (or promote them.) At the very least it moves away from the subjective "I beat this person, but this person is beat by this person who beats me," repeat ad naseum.
