How do you play delver? I`m thinking of creating a list like this http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=48580 with 4 invisible stalkers and 1-2 more pikes since I dont have 2 snapcasters or seachrome coasts.
My shop is not hyper competitive, I smashed the last 2 weeks with W/b tokens so I am wondering if I can still win FNMs with a not quite full delver list.

That list is so janky, aka tuned to a specific meta. Post a list, but Snapcaster really isn't negotiable in Delver. The core Delver aspect isn't touched in that SCG list.

Well the problem is I don`t have the money for the GOSTs or Resto angels, and I have the most of the important core of delver (4 delvers, 4 probes, 4 ponders, 4 snags, 2 pikes, 3 leaks) and I am wondering if there is some way I can play a list with 2 snapcasters and still win FNM. Or should I stick to playing my W/b tokens and keep using the store credit to finish my playset of snpcasters then make a mono-bluish delver.

what's a sideboard?

3 Argentum Armor
4 Gitaxian Probe
4 Quest for the Holy Relic

2 Frogmite
4 Glint Hawk
2 Kor Outfitter
4 Kor Skyfisher
4 Memnite
4 Ornithopter
4 Squadron Hawk
4 Whitemane Lion

21 Plains

running around with this deck on my friend's modo account and been crushing modern tourney rooms haha. cost like 4 tickets (+ a few cards he already had) and it's absolutely hilarious listening to the ensuing rage. no really, what's a sideboard?

step 1: put down quest
step 2: put down 5 0cmc creatures
step 3: attack with argentum armor, turn 2 land destruction

A sideboard is 15 cards you can swap in or out after Game 1. You have to replace cards on a 1-to-1 basis, so if you add 5 cards from your sideboard to your deck you have to take 5 cards out.

The idea is your sideboard gives you access to cards to shore up specific matchups but you don't want those cards in your maindeck. For example, a combo deck may want a super-streamlined deck for most games, but when it faces a deck with a lot of disruption it takes out a few cards for some protection for its combo. However, it doesn't want a lot of these cards in its deck normally since it's Plan A is good enough to win on its own 80% of the time.

There's also transformative sideboards. This is when you sideboard lots of cards and swap them to completely change the game-plan of your deck. So Game 1 you do one thing, Game 2 the other guy sideboards to try and beat your Plan A and then you attack them from a completely different angle.

Plan A: mulligan aggressively, keep no-land hands, use free cantrip to get stuff you want.
Plan B: WW shell and hope for the best.

it's no S-tier decklist but it cost <$4 and has beaten S-tier decklists (lol Tron). potentially a turn-2 combo with a WW shell? i claim success.

ideally you'd have fetch/shock lands + that one ench tutor (it's modern right?) + batterskull (or 2) but those cost a lot and we're poor/not-serious.

Judicator, it`s just a fun list that was thrown together cheap. Relax man and mabye try it out. I know you`re a spike like me, but you gotta admit super janky lists are a lot of fun to play.

That junky artifact deck looks super fun lol. Getting wins in a local shop (which don't really exist anymore around my place) should be a blast, and the opponents' faces priceless.

Not really my idea of fun when you're banking on 4 cards total to make it work?

I should clarify that relying on 4 cards for the deck to do anything versus not playing Magic at all somehow qualifies as fun...especially when tickets are being spent...question mark...

I love that deck. I've been play testing the hell out of it and, frankly, it's well positioned. Somethings get your pretty good, like Revoke and...Surgical Extraction...but honestly, the dominant recursion and card advantage is sweet. Doesn't have a great matchup against Delver or Zombies, which is, sorta a problem.

Judicatory im assuming they aren't entering events just playing tournament practice room with a dirt cheap deck that has the chance to blow people out. I know you usually rebuke people's ideas on here when it comes to any variation from tournament lists almost religiously but rebuking someone's idea of fun is pretty silly.

If they are winning events then more power to them my most fond memories of tournaments were when I had a good idea and tried it out and was successful at fnm, not when I crushed regionals, or top 8 an event or what not with no variation lists. Those tournaments gave me a different feeling, which is awesome and the reason I grind Mtgo events often my desire for competition is fierce but it's still is a different feeling.

Judicator, sounds like you're a Spike kind of player. Don't be hatin' on the Johnnies. ;-P

I like the idea. Very focused on what you want it to do and looks pretty effective at it. (*stealing for Cockatrice*) Granted, it's not flexible (Judicator's very correct here; you're messed over if you don't draw Quest), but I can see where you're clearing house with it, redtooth.

There's nothing wrong with the deck if it's goal is to have fun. But wouldn't you rather play another fun deck that isn't completely black and white? My problem with that deck is exactly that, you aren't doing diddly squat the times you do not get Quest. There's nothing wrong with fun decks. But the deck should at least do things if plan A doesn't work.

Right now that deck is playing a crappy draft deck if Quest doesn't show up, but cool that's "fun". I mean if you are going to have fun, you might as well not feel miserable the times when you don't draw the Quest.

Enlightened Tutor is not modern legal

Idyllic Tutor is, but it costs 3 mana = not worth it.

I also hate how players hide behind the "we're not serious/are poor" excuse when producing decks like this. That's not an excuse, you do not have to dump large amounts of money into the situation and you certainly can find alternatives to expensive cards/decks, yes...even in Delver.

Edit:

Steelshaper's Gift doesn't produce a 2nd turn combo.

Meh. To each their own.... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

EDIT: Nevermind....

Idyllic Tutor sounds too slow, but we're trying to find ways to not have yourself messed over if you don't have Quest turn 1. Absolutely not ideal to have to go the Idyllic Tutor route, but better than nothing?...
