So.. put on some Elliott Smith and crush some nerdlings for old time's sake?-- I'd certainly tune in for the entire session and I bet many others would too.
What do you think?
seconded, I haven't watched a quality protoss bw stream since sc2 came out it's been sad

That would definitely be an cool event, but I think he said once that it is too big a change in settings, and therefore will affect his sc2 play. Still hope for a short session though!

He also said he wouldn't be good at it since it's been so long, and he wouldn't enjoy playing it poorly, so it's an overall waste of time.
I wanna make some fun clips and highlights from the stream but I need some video editing software. I thought windows movie maker would be enough, since I just wanted really basic stuff, but it's actually too basic. It's just titles and transitions and dubbing and filters, but I wanted to do some zooming and some actual editing of the images. Anyone familiar with making videos have some recommendations? Preferably free or cheap and not extremely complicated.
Also I have a problem of music messing up the sound. When I put some short clips back to back, different parts of a song or different songs are playing and it doesn't sound great. But if I put another song over it, I'll lose the SC2 sounds. Is there any obvious solution to this that I'm missing? The only thing I could think of is using the replay to record the sound cleanly and then syncing it up in the video editing software. But I think that would be too time consuming to do regularly.
Sony Vegas or Premiere are as basic as it gets. You can add a second audio track so that it's underneath the gameplay audio, instead of overwriting it.

Sony Vegas Movie Studio is honestly going to be your best bet for Decent Video editing software. It's built off of Professional Video editing software, with a few features removed, but doesn't even push above for the highest package.
It's not Super-confusing as well, but it can be a bit daunting to see it at first. They also give out 30 day free trials on the website i posted above, so you can get familiar with the software, then buy it.

Sony vegas would the step when windows movie maker doesn't cut it anymore. A very easy programs to learn the basic things you mentioned. The only problem is, if you download a VOD from twitch in .flv format, you would have to convert it to something compatible with the soft ware. I hope you've also local rercorded your stream sessions in .mp4. I can't really recommend you any tutorials to learn soney vegas, but there's lots of good stuff on YouTube. It's not a cheap program but you can trial it for a month I believe.
For the music / in-game audio problem I do not have a solution. I've tried recording sound from the replay and use it for a clip but it missed sounds from actually playing and because the camera movement is smoothend out you miss some of the in-game sounds.

Sony Vegas is pretty simple but good enough, like people are saying. I personally use Adobe After Effects (more of a composing program but it works for me - REALLY taxing on a PC though, Adobe Premiere Pro might be a better choice) because it allows for really cool background and texts stuff which Vegas isn't too good at and it works with all file formats unlike Sony Vegas which struggles with a lot of them.
And the sound problem is why I focus on recording replays over VOD files. The only choice would be to mute the VODS or get good enough at audio editing to lower the music and raise the voice up but I have no idea how to do that ^^
Ok tbh I hate this shit. I'm gonna cut clips and that's it haha. Maybe at some point in the future I'll work on better produced clips but for now I just want to start cranking some out. And for my first one, I cut a whole game because making highlights of the parts I wanted to highlight was way too challenging
