I get a little elitist about GSL LRs but they're only better because of the inopportune hours for most of the western tournaments.
Your adage really was spot on though. I still enjoy SC2, but not through LR or LR Threads. I instead just talk with people through the League of Legends Client. =/
I must admit, there was one time where I considered picking up SC2 LR again so I decided to venture to the LR Threads to have a look. But the thread had been locked because apparently the quality of posts was that bad. I think it was last MLG Providence Day 1? That kinda killed any fleeting thoughts of doing more SC2 LR. On the plus side, the TL Twitter LR seems alright (I think Flamewheel does that?) and it's hard to compete against instant on the moment LR that can be featured on the OP of a thread. So I think LR will still be fine.
I'm not sure if I want to LR the TSL4 anymore. To me, the TSL has a special place since it's when I remember it as the time I stepped up my standards and finally decided on how I would LR properly. But if things keep looking the way they are, I'm just not sure.
On the side note, I'm still happy that at least my LoL Forums and ADT are still chugging along nicely. ^^

2009 bisu vs shine was still bad too haha

Maybe they should implement a perm ban from LR threads just as they do with the strat forum.

Don´t think that would be possible (technically)... They could probably ban from the sc2 tourney forum though, which would be pretty much the same. Personally I would have no problem with banning those people globally though. If you behave like a total ass in one area you don´t really deserve posting at all.
The strat forum bans are mostly designed for people who try hard but just have no clue and tend to give terrible advice, so its a totally different situation. Its more to protect people seeking good advice from getting bad advice.

I was (mostly) kidding anyway. There's plenty of newer posters getting banned as well so it wouldn't help with that. I wouldn't mind some more restrictive punishments though.

I only use the GSL LR's when I stay up late to watch it, or the OPs to see results of tourneys I don't want to/cant' watch.

I've actually never read or commented in an LR while it was happening. Sometimes I end up reading a few posts in one while following a funny ban... but generally I tend to confine myself to chatting with some friends or chilling in irc or teamspeak during tournaments.
As horrendous as the quality of Sc2 LR threads may be (from what i've heard) it seems like this is as much a function of the sheer popularity of the events and size of the sc2 community-- as the number of viewers increases, the number of people writing bad posts will increase.
|
It would be nice if the people wanting to make terrible comments kept it to the stream chat or somewhere other than a TL forum though. I don't know how people just don't ever learn from previous LRs. They see the warnings, they see what other people get banned for and they usually participate in more than one LR. And yet it is still necessary to ban so many people for things they should should know better for. Sigh. Time for a chocolate chip and almond croissant muffin. Yes, it exists.

Sure, that happens all the time.
In fact, hardly ever are people banned just for one post. One particular post might be the last thing to tip the scale, but moderation always takes the user's history into account.

I think he meant their actions rather their posts. For example she was banned for being the subject of those posts.

This was the best LR thread ever. I mean, yeah it kind of hurts, but... LOL.
I feel like I have so much to live up to as a Bisu fan. How will I ever be able to express that amount of rage?
+ Show Spoiler + Especially since, you know, Bisu's going to destroy Shine and win the next OSL. tchyeah.

Really? I've recently been doing the GSL LR threads and I honestly have to say I don't see a lot of mess or trash or flaming going on. Occasionally yes, but all in all, ppl just really love to watch the games.
I've also been taking a lot of time trying to see what I can do to improve GSL LR threads and ppl always give me feedback and suggestions, so I find LR as the most enjoyable thing ever on TL.
And yes, it is true that GSL's inconvenient times does not really allow for many viewers but, I honestly don't see the GSL LR threads as that bad. DH and MLG maybe.... but even then it's constantly moderated so it's fine right?

^You'll get two people engaged in argument, and that will be bad, but as a whole the threads are nice.

For GSL? or MLG, or DH, or IPL?

For GSL? or MLG, or DH, or IPL? The GSL threads are good (Probably because of the late hours), MLG threads move so fast that it's kind of hard to notive the bad posters (lol), and I really liked the IPL LR (I really like checking the thread to see what was happening on the premium streams). I don't ussualy catch the Dreamhack threads so I don't how they are.
Either way your OPs kick ass.
Edit: And if you look at the MLG threads, they have 500-700 pages, so of course there is going to be a few rotten eggs. I think what happens is when there is nothing to talk about (or people are tired about talking about the games) then horribly useless arguments start to fester. I remember the NASL LR got sidetracked for 40 pages because one guys accussed another fellow of rascism.

I brought it up because the ACE v T8 thread didn't need to be moderated. Even in the GSL thread there will be at least a handful of warnings. Maybe I'm going at the whole thing with rose tinted glasses but SC2 threads... .. They're just atrocious. I never really read the MLG/NASL ones until I opened a LR thread for MLG one time... That scarred me enough not to read one again. Only recently have I been actively participating in Code S LRs and while the amount of blatant shit talk, random hate and j3wetiuawe4rt inb4 u mad posts are disgruntling- the GSL threads are okay on a whole.
But reading the BW thread last night.. it just broke my heart to see a bunch of people happy to watch games and talk about them without the need to incessantly flame each other and the players. + Show Spoiler [Results spoiler] +And ace was blown out =/ . Yeah, over the years there are so many examples of a lotta rage but ... gah, the Bisu vs Shine example I just see passionate fans outraged. In MLG it's like /b/. It's not even /v/, it's straight up fast bad into lose.
