i think in the case of the 2nd one, it wasn't warned because he had other pics in there? also the poster has over 7k in posts as opposed to the first one's 70 posts.. that's at least what i think happened here. *shrug* i'm more leaning to my first reason in it..

It's mostly got to do with just being unlucky with getting caught by a mod who's having a bad day. It's like meeting your girlfriend when she's PMSing hard: you don't know why until you see the red.

Well, I just got warned by P4ndemik for reposting an image that was already three time in the thread without anyone saying anything. Apparently a guy getting shot (that means, a lot of red from a ms paint edit) at the end was bad.
I guess I'll stay away from that thread?

It was an image of a fake, but very real looking news reporter having his head explode taken from a well known piece of footage from I don't even know where. The mspaint-edited pictures of xzibit preceding that one that you hint were the offensive material were hardly offensive.

Even ignoring wether the image was NSFW or not, quoting a picture and then reposting the same picture is kinda annoying. Reposts happen, but I don't see the diference between doing that and simply discussing without adding a picture, the picture itself is completelly meaningless. There's enough people just posting the first image they can find just so they argue about something. If the point of the thread is no talk, just funny pictures, that boundary is already stretched enough.

I think you are talking about the pic that is a screen shot from the scene in "Scanners" near the beginning when the dude uses his mind powers to blow up the guys head...it is awesome.
...and I think that the quote is talking about R. Budd Dwyer who shot himself on live television. I remember that happening when I was a kid, but forgot about it for a long time until someone mentioned it on the internet and I had to find out what he was talking about...only to remember the news story from my youth.

In the end, those are only warnings. For pictures like the Modern Warfare baby or those involving gore, I think it's good that people are warned when they near the edge. But I doubt this would turn into bans, right?
I actually like the MW picture, it's a joke, but with a razor sharp edge that we'd all be better cut by.
