As far as new users are concerned (i.e. anyone with less than 1000 or so quality posts to their name), this site is Holy Ground. The veterans are the users who've consistently shown respect to the site and to others and that's why they're still here. Show them some respect.
In practice, this policy means a user who has thousands of posts may be able to get away with a few minor transgressions in etiquette with just a warning. If you're at 50 posts and you try the same kind of stunt, then we may just ban you. Harsh? Yes. Unfair? Most definitely. But that's the way life is. Learn to live with it.
This also means you should think twice before calling that guy with 5000+ posts a jackass. If the guy's been with us that long, chances are YOU'RE the one being an idiot. Some battles are just not worth fighting - just move on.

You registered the same time as me. That means I take what you say a little more seriously if I can't see the merit in it at first.
To put it simply, people that have been good to TL get away with things that newer users will not. I don't know how to explain it further- Endymion has written a ton of excellent stuff and earned a fountain pen and a listing among the TL writing staff. It's good to bring this up like you did, both as a warning for new users that how Endymion posts isn't how they should post and as a reminder that we should all remember to add something to the discussion.

It seems like a double standard. But if everyone thinks endy deserves to be treated differently than the rest, I'm ok with it.

If seems like a double standard, that's because it is-- E-dawg is under a different standard because he is a different poster. If some guy with 10 posts comes into a thread and says "u gotta sk8" he'll get warned. E-dawg has earned his sk8ing via his contributions to the site.

TL not being a democracy or an egalitarian society is something one needs to accept.
Although, if you think thoroughly about it, it really isn't that easy. Long time members and contributors have proven their worth for the community while others haven't. It's not an absolute but a kind of relative equality - the more you contribute, the more leniency you receive afterwards.
People not getting that idea and calling TL a despotism are banned all the time. Some of them, fueled with hatred against the staff, even come back and try to haunt TL. But usually they just end up being ridiculed in this thread :>

Reading that ban then reading your post about curiosity also made me curious along with Mani's funny reason.
Finding the post that account made could not be done with its name so instead I did it with the date and time worked a charm thanks to Mani being very fast (less then a minute after it posted the ad Mani unsheathed the ban hammer) this is the thread if you are still curious.
My first post in the ABL I'd just like to say it is very entertaining and all the daily posters in here do a great job as do the Mods.
