I used to be a big time criminal. Called one guy retarded once, with bad grammar no less. Not an inch of my face is smiling when I think back. While banned I played the role of a snitch some, got some of my former colleagues put into disneyland. I can't lie, it felt good. I guess the ones in command saw some potential and handed me that hammer. It fit.

I think avoiding being banned can be easy. You just need what i call response inhibition, which in general means thinking one hundred and forty two thousand, eight hundred and fifty seven times before hitting the post button. When a post seems suspicious to me, i consult the commandments before posting, in which case, i am always intimidated by the very first. Then again, refraining from posting as much means a bit less contribution, since it elliminates risk and reward. But i am ok with it. I don't really want to get to the highest of the TL contribution ranks, unless i somehow become a profesional SCII player.

Why would you need to avoid bans? It's not like they're flying around looking to catch anything and anyone they can. Metaphorically speaking, you have to be a giant magnet walking around in a room full of iron banhammers in order to catch one.

Assuming the "this is their house" mentality works fine for dodging bans imo.

Yeah, I really love it when the reason is "By request" and searching shows that it was martyring. Somehow it's always identifiable which ones are the true "by request bans".
