Every single math teacher, professor, and friend I've ever had has always said √x = ±y It's like saying "'Japanese car' implies only Honda". | ||

Grumbels was just temp banned for 90 days by SoMuchBetter. That account was created on 2009-05-02 04:58:17 and had 827 posts. Reason: Good luck with your exams! I don't get this  Looked at the posts of the guy, and they all seemed mannered. So my only idea for an explanation is that he PMed a mod to ban him, cause he didn't want to spend too much time with TL? But then 90 days seems a bit long Exams lasting all summer? :OCan someone clarify? | ||

Not really, √ generally implies positive, eg. √4 = 2, but if you have x^2=4, then x=±2 | ||
