1) TL is a BW community, first and foremost. It will always support the ex-BW players over the people who started out with sc2 and wc3 first up. That's just the way TL is.
2) The TL community is full of Korean fanboys. This article only reinforces this fact; hardcore TLers believe that GSL is the only tournament in the world and pretty much discounts any other tournament, unless it's won by a Korean. You can see this clearly through the grand total of 0 mentions of top tier foreigners.
I don't mind this massive troll (sorry, but that's what it is) being on the front page, because it serves as a reminder where TL was first spawned.
Admins gave far too much latitude to intrigue, and this article only serves to add gas to the fire.
You disagreeing with something doesn't make it a troll. Stop being so close minded.
Kekeke, it has started. Like moths to a flame. Edit: Sorry, I'm probably enjoying this more then I should. XD Another Edit: This is too fun, here is another one to balance out the bans of BW and Sc2 supporters :D.

I don't disagree with any of the bans, what bothered me was the reasons given, both;
"You disagreeing with something doesn't make it a troll. Stop being so close minded." and "Don't like it, that's fine, but if you're going to simply refer to it as 'trolling' because you disagree, then get out."
Bothered me as I also personally viewed it as a troll article and really don't understand why that's a bannable offense. I mean both the posts that got banned for that were pretty inflamitory so I'm not disagreeing with the either of the bans but instead the rational listed as on one hand he's calling the entire SC2 community immature and on the other he's reason for banning people is that they felt that the article was a troll.

Calling other posters trolls is the fastest way to derail discussion as it provides means to simply disregard other people points. I would imagine this is the main reason why it is frowned upon.

I'm generally a supporter of seeing that policy die. Words do not have fixed definitions. Trying to fix the definitions of words is simply unrealistic and will not happen. This is doubly so when the words are forum-words that have no long-established dictionary definition. What TL says "troll" means is not necessarily what others say it means. Forcing people to adhere to the TL definition of the word is simply not useful.
That being said, I do think that the vast majority of the time someone says "X is a troll", they're basically saying, "don't listen to him anymore." That's antithetical to the kind of proper dialog that a discussion forum should be trying to foster. This is also why inflammatory rhetoric ("X is immature", "X is stupid", etc) should be looked down on in the same way; they're all ways to get people to ignore the opposing viewpoint. The word "troll" is not the only way to cut off discussion. They're all ad hominem attacks, and all ad-hom does is cut off useful discussion.

how is this a troll article exactly? he had an opinion, and he spelled it out in a well written way that is not blatantly inflammatory, as compared to many of these joes who got banned who may disagree but didn't express it logically or coherently.
those guys who got banned deserved it. if you don't agree with something, say why you don't agree and explain it. labelling it as a troll article just shows you can't articulate your own thoughts and disagree for the sake of disagreeing.

He was replying to a post made in 2009 while the topic was updated. He clearly didn't read the update.

I don't see how that's banworthy, does he have a history of bad posting? -.-
I also don't see how that proves he didn't read the OP, the most recent posts, or the note at the top of the thread.
Also the top of the thread says that the guy wasn't a soldier, which is really opinion-based and splitting hairs, it's not really a fair thing to say.
It seems to me that 90% of the reason he was banned was his opinion. But don't worry I know I have a tendency to drag these things on, you can reply to me I won't bring it up again.

He has three warnings and this is his third temp. The update clearly said that the court found it sufficiently possible for him to disobey orders (10% of people did) for him to have been faced with a real choice.

He was banned for exactly the reasons Kwark explained. If you have any evidence that he was a soldier you can PM them to me. And I would suggest to the court and the defense as well, they could use that I would imagine.

In addition to what NicolBolas and fush have already said, by saying "this article is a troll attempt", people are essentially dismissing what clearly took a lot of thought and effort on intrigue's part, which I find incredibly disrespectful. Like I've stated numerous times, I could care less if people agree with the article or not, but to call it a troll attempt just because you don't like what it states is a bit ridiculous IMO.

I think there is a difference in that thread between people complaining about the content and those complaining about the tone. I think what TheButtonmen is getting at it that the OP states he wants to talk about one thing, the fact that BW bonwjas haven't moved across, but the article also takes a swing at SC2. It can be read as an attempt to get people all riled up for nothing, which can seem like a troll. So saying to call it a troll attempt just because you don't like what it states is a bit ridiculous IMO probably misses why people are calling it a troll.
If that isn't the case then perhaps Intrigue needs to clarify because right now it isn't clear.
Edit: Was waiting for this one. Just came right out the blue.
