All goes back to TL not having an ignore button
I'm pretty sure a lot of people would still prefer to report instead of ignoring.

then again its not like its not requested, some guy recently made a request that TL+ user gets to hide other people's posts and also prioritize people with low post counts over high.

But if there were to be ignore in some form perhaps it could just be that those ignored posts are dimmed in some way, e.g. making the text color a light gray? That way the post is still there but it's easy to ignore for the reader.

I understand the mods but it feels very inconsistent. A lot of the news/LR threads are just flamewars more or less because of a couple of certain posters. Are you reporting those posters?

Yes if its not already reported. Then they will eventually get warned/banned too. Why assume that there is nothing going on behind the scenes? Just because you don't have access to their mod logs?

Apparently nreadable for individuals who have decided to ignore certain users, willingfuly compromising their experience. So, there's an assumption here that an user ignoing someone would work against them. As in, the moderation assumes it knows better what I'm supposed to read than I do. Fair enough. that's literally what moderation is ![]() I always thought the purpose of moderation was keeping the forums in tact, by removing posters that unarguably cause more harm than good, working in the best interests of all users. Not telling the users who they have to talk to. Numerous boards feature an ability to ignore picked users, I don't know why TL.net would figure this doesn't suit the website,.

Also, discussion is stupid when people ignore others. We like to promote civil discussion, not dissuade it. If someone is breaking the rules then we deal with that. But we don't have a rule about people needing to agree with each other. Well, sometimes I really don't want to scroll through 3 pages of certain people complaining about their Starcraft race being weak or talking about Serral in a GSL thread. Not much to do with self-restrain, it's just bothersome.

Ehm, no, unreadable for everyone. There would be repeat posts, people talking/posting past one another, probably passive-aggressive bullshit once a poster realizes they were ignored, and on top of all of that - if everyone simply ignores a shit user instead of reporting them, then that makes the job of moderators harder and the amount of shit posts that slip through the cracks greater.
