I tend to think that mods should sometimes tell people privately they are a nuisance without any official red letter warning. In my experience it's much more efficient, because you don't feel like getting any street cred as you just said. It just simply feels a bit shit.
I think they do. I at least once got an email from a mod telling me to calm down, but I've never been formally warned.

It's hard because I like reading his posts even though we only agree on like 5% of things. Maybe friends have to be sacrificed to show how troll is too troll?

I am pretty surprised that this is the post that get LegalIamSoOldSchooolYouWontbelieveItLord banned among all the one-line greatness he generates, but as the mods always tell us, the politics threads are too fast, so they don't catch everything. That probably means that it got reported, but at this point I would be surprised if any LL post goes unreported, just out of general spite against him. With his low ban count, he must be the main source of bad report stats on the site 
As for the roasting, I think that it's because he does that himself pretty effectively, there is not much to add to his posts that would tell more of a story ...

He's not going to read the roasts anyway, he is way too busy being lauded by the Putin for the excellent job he is doing. Do bans count as injuries? So can LegalLord receive the Russian purple heart for getting banned?

Pretty simple. Take any topic, then figure out what opinion Putin would want you to have. Bend or break facts as much as necessary to achieve that opinion. That is what LegalLord will say.
