I imagine that it would be case by case, because I know I have seen some usernames that I was surprised to see actually get registered in the past. Lets be honest, you can do a lot worse than holy penis.
I think those, worse usernames just tend to be PBUs with a grudge to settle, at least in my experience. The only other users I could find with that ban reason were JesusNeverGotLaid and Progaymer

Well religious discussion is pretty heavily moderated on this forum. It just will derail threads with what happens when I accept the holy penis into me. We can't have every thread he posts in getting derailed with religion.
That's the real reason his name is unacceptable.

I think as long as they aren't openly offensive against group or individual or full of moronic / random digits, they can pass. Fortunately, many of bad nicknames are already banned.

PORNO_SATAN is an alias of at least one ABLer in the IRC channel for this thread. My theory is when Mr. PBU joined out channel the other day, he saw this name. That, or PORNO_SATAN is a "thing" now and I'm just really out of touch with whatever moronic internet trend I don't know.

PORNO_SATAN was banned in april of 2008, archas saw it a while back and found it funny, adopts the nickname sometimes for fun. Case closed.
