That was an awesome thread. Who in the world thinks that they have the right to be less accessible to those reading them just because they like to use text speak (is there so new fangled cool kid word for the abbreviations that are used to replace words? I feel like an old geezer not knowing one). That seems to me to be exactly the same as intentionally using big words to obfuscate the meaning of your sentence but more annoying for one to read.
Is it just me who feels that those abbreviations are only acceptable in forms of communication with limited character usage (i.e Twitter and text messages) and only when you would otherwise surpass the letter limit.

I don't know; personally I'd say that being used to deciphering that sort of messages/posts in this day and age is a useful skill toi have, regardless of wether or not you post in that manner yourself.
I for one only type like that when I'm in the middle of a demanding multiplayer match where doing otherwise might mean failure. :/
