i cant help but notice that something about the testie ban feels... personal. which is understandable since he has 8k posts and some history, but i am not sure if that makes it particularly fair. mentioning the three-letter-acronym game in both comments made about the ban doesnt exactly feel proper either, and is probably the reason i am posting at all. | ||

I am a banling on tl.net if you take personal digs at me randomly and completely uncalled for (as he did) they best damn well be funny. His wasn't. So when I replied with something that was nowhere near as mean and in fact completely within "normal" standards of jib jabbing he responded with a rant of really mean shit. So the score was 2 him and 1 me with me being a tl staff member. That can easily = a ban. You can try and reason it all you want with conspiracy theories about it being personal. Chances are in the future if you see the same situation you might be looking at a ban... even with a completely different set of people. | ||

it was mean spirited, sure, but you jabbed him to get that exact type of reaction. it's not a conspiracy theory that you and him have a personal back and forth, however if you had banned him i wouldn't have blinked, and it'd probably be justified. i was just surprised mani would come with a seemingly personal issue with him in your stead, and then throw in a few mean spirited, seemingly uncalled for, jabs of his own. which is why i was wondering if he had anything personal against testie. anyways you ( and the 10 commandments) put it best: you are a staff member, he is a random vet, and this isn't a democracy. | ||

I think you have this pretty backwards, did you miss Testie's first post? Testie came in with the intent to piss off, and egg him on. He got one reply! Then he did it again, which is ban worthy. Why should Testie get one free shot in the first place? i was just surprised mani would come with a seemingly personal issue with him in your stead, and then throw in a few mean spirited, seemingly uncalled for, jabs of his own. which is why i was wondering if he had anything personal against testie. "Also high school, lol." a guy who doesn't play sc? really? and that's even beside the point you know as well as i do that this is a community that a lot of people became attached to and still browsed daily, even when playing sc was on the back-burner due to sc2 still being years away. not to mention the many that don't play sc2 and still browse/contribute, to this very day. Mani I'm not stupid or clueless, which looks more and more like what you seem to be implying. i just thought the the 2 week ban was a bit unfair, and i know the barbs were unfair, so I came here to state it. I hoped for an answer directly, possibly an explanation at why the barbs for no reason, maybe that was naive. i didn't expect deflections at semantics or whatever assuming my stupidity and/or ignorance. To add onto this, how you type on a forum is the only representation of yourself we have to work off of...
