This thread is for discussing recent bans. Don't discuss other topics here.

Take it to website feedback if you disagree with a ban or want to raise an issue.

Keep it civil.

NOTE: For those of you who want to find the actual ABL thread where the bans are posted. Please look in here: https://tl.net/forum/closed-threads/

That's really funny. "I'll gladly take a ban for this" became "Oh shit, somebody responded and I need to make an alt account to respond back."

Squeegy was just temp banned for 2 days by GMarshal.

That account was created on 2009-10-10 03:31:28 and had 970 posts.

Reason: Please stop being condescending and patronizing when arguing with people. Its annoying, pointless and shits up the LR thread.

He thinks he's "educating" people with his "quality" posts. Then again, it's a Kespa vs Gom LR thread, so such posts were kinda expected.

+ Show Spoiler +

He thinks he's so smart. I don't even know what "hearing comprehension means.

Your vote: Has the Elephant been slain tonight?

(Vote): No, give them six months and they will dominate the scene
(Vote): Yes, if GSL pro gaming is a farce these games would have been closer.
(Vote): Not yet, but it's looking like it will be.

I don't think it is a good poll.

The gsl competition is not a farce, but that doesn't mean the kespa players won't dominate in like 6 months or so.
The point is that the potential of these people is unknown at this moment. If we still see games like this in another 3 months, I might begin to think there is no elephant (dependent on player of course). Personally i still think kespaplayers playing sc2 will give an upward force in terms of overall skill level. Does that mean i think there is an elephant? not necessarily. Just an increase in population (of progamers) should give a rise in level.
I feel this poll is too back and white.

Edit: lol @ map balance whine

The elephant theory specifically stated that:

-The competition was a farce
-Because of that, BW pros would totally roflstomp GOM pros immediately or shortly after switching

The theory WAS just as black and white as the poll. People are just softening the arguments like they always do when theories fail. As much as I love JD this was the expected result.

The elephant was stillborn, anyone with a good perspective view has known this for a while. I find it funny to call them "Team elephants" though

No, you simply lack hearing comprehension. What was said, was that the time the level of play was weak and that it would take the Kespa pros a few months to dominate. Everybody has agreed that the level of play is miles above what it used to be back then, therefore the claim that it would take Kespa pros a few months to dominate has not been expected in quite a while. What is expected though, and what the article also did try to say, is that the Kespa pros are better than the current GSL players. And yes they are. It will just take them a little while before they will dominate.

I expect you to thank me later on for this free lesson I just offered you.

Is that a new form of trolling, or the religion of the BW fanatics ?

Oh, I am no fanatic or a troll. I am just an objective bystander. Feel free to disagree with me at any point I said, and I will explain to you, why you are wrong.

Nobody ever denied that among the KeSPA players there would be a lot of really strong players, I think people are just hesitant to say that given a year they will come to totally dominate the scene (not to mention the leap required to say that the competition was worthless before).

Squeegy is simply morphing the theory to suit his own needs, so he can keep it as a sort of boogeyman looming over the scene.

I suggest you read a book or two on formal logic. It'll teach how to analyze arguments and how to notice the subtle things that lead to misrepresentation such as the one you have arrived at. You can thank me later, friend!

The funny thing is I actually followed several courses on formal logic. I guess I didn't learn anything.

In any case, I think Flash and Jaedong will be very strong over time, it just doesn't validate the elephant theory which requires that every single KeSPA A-teamer would completely crush all the competition, not just Flash or Jaedong.

Yes, it is a shame. Next time remember to do your homework, it'll teach you a lot.

You are disgustingly arrogant. If the KeSPA players were better, they'd win. It's as simple as that. The better player wins. Could they potentially be better? Yes. Are they currently better? Not even close.

You call yourself an objective bystander, yet you have not used objectivity to judge the situation. You have argued with thoughts and feelings, not with measurable facts. Whenever someone attempts to deny you, you just tell them they're stupid and require further education.

You've met your match. In the words of your people, the trolls, "come at me bro".

What does it mean to say someone is the better player? Is Bischu the better player than Taeja? If it were a best of three, he would have 2-0d Taeja. I don't think Bischu is or was the better player than Taeja. Do you? I do think that Bischu played better but that is not equivalent to being the better player. Of course, all this is redundant because I don't think Jaedong is currently the better player. Does he have the potential to be the better player? Yes. Way better.

Sometimes, unfortunately, an argument will not do and ridicule is the only option. Gurembles there is a good example. It is simply a fact that his interpretation, as is so many else's, of the Elephant thread, is wrong. I have tried pointing this out and I've even offered to elaborate on the points. But as I said, sometimes an argument will not work, no matter how sound it is.

Don't consider me a troll. Consider me a teacher. You could learn a few things.

JeffGoldblum was just temp banned for 90 days by EvilTeletubby.

That account was created on 2012-01-24 09:35:44 and had 152 posts.

Reason: Looks like it's "final chance, long temp ban" time for you.

You have a warning and 4 temp bans, including a 30 day, all for the same thing. If you can't manage to be respectful when you post, then we don't need you around. Last chance.

Another great name soon to be wasted

Cabinet Sanchez was just temp banned for 2 days by GMarshal.

That account was created on 2011-02-23 19:42:58 and had 694 posts.

Reason: While its ok to not like MOBA games, it is not ok to claim that anyone who enjoys them should be euthanized. They enjoy different pixel men fighting each other than you do, that doesn't warrant advocating their murder.

Sometimes the internet scares me. It makes me wonder what kind of grip on reality some of our posters have. Props to GMarshal for pointing out the asbsurdity of his position.

GMarshal, and therefore TL.net, is forcing their political views on us by declaring euthanasia to be murder! Where's my free speech? Huh?

Me too. ._.

I was warned all of 3 times and I get terrified every time I get a PM. I look at the ABL too much.

Edit: Slightly more on-topic, someone with a huge number of posts was temp. banned for the same reason Blasterion was banned.

You've also been told multiple times about image macros too but still not learning.

Alright, so I'm gonna be asking this question a bunch over the coming months, and I figure tonight is a good night to start asking:

Poll: Has the Elephant been slain tonight?

Yes, if GSL pro gaming is a farce these games would have been closer. (58)

58%

No, give them six months and they will dominate the scene (32)

32%

Not yet, but it's looking like it will be. (10)

I expect you to thank me later on for this free lesson I just offered you.

wow thanks captain obvious

Thank you. It always bothers me when people do not understand the obvious.

Clearly, the same people are dominating, so competition should still be a farce, by the elephant theory's standards.

Good god, I'm used to people being all speech-like and high and mighty, being on my schools Speech and Debate team, but that's just...awful. It hurts my eyes to read that spoiler.

He actually reminds me of some kid who PMed me a bunch of "big" words just to look impressive but failing hard. I bet he doesn't actually know the meaning of some of them..

^my goodness lol. It's just unabashedly....I mean...what? I honestly can't tell whether he's trolling or being serious but the fact that he is so consistently arrogant leads me to believe that he's actually just that way :X or he could just be a very, very dedicated purposefully bad poster :/

Huh?

I consider you lucky, I don't ever get pm'ed.

I'm also somewhat socially awkward and get freaked out when I do get pms and stuff.
