I know the rules of hinese mahjong pretty well number of tiles played, Japanese plays a 13+1(draw/ron) tile hand while Chinese plays a 16+1(draw/ron) tile hand Japanese 3-3-3-3-2 Chinese 3-3-3-3-3-2 scoring is also different Chinese plays with Flower tiles that gives you points and warrants a dead wall draw. I believe chinese tiles don't have doras though

If only CSheep did not have that study abroad trip... Blast, Chinese is 3-3-3-3-2, with a 13+1 tile set. Also, what stakes are we playing?

I've got a set, and ie played it a bunch of times, but I still have no idea how to play it any differently than just flipping over tiles until someone wins. Go read Legend of Koizumi, it'll teach you all about the game. http://www.mangafox.com/manga/mudazumo_naki_kaikaku/

Happy to see more TL mahjong players though. Hope you guys have a good time! Edit: Also TENNA TOORI NO KAIDANJI (well, if you ignore the beginning chapters) is the best mahjong manga I've ever read. Akagi? Cheap knock-off. ![]()

Okay, the definition doesn't really apply but still do not change the fact that it is a spin-off. Either way l"ll try not to detract from the topic anymore. Edit: @rgfdxm Yeah, I really should stop solely relying on emoticons to communicate that I am not serious. I concur that Akagi is awesome though that washizu game is going on foreverrrrr hot damn. If you didn't see the manga, I highly recommend it. That is where Akagi initally came from.

I guess that came out harsher than I intended, I actually appreciate the recommendation. Akagi (the anime) was what sparked my interest in mahjong to begin with, and last time I went to Japan I picked up 15 volumes or so of it.
