For those of you who also played, which piece(s) was(were) your personal favorite(s) to perform?

When I could still play I played a lot of Billy Joel because even though I wasn't very good at it people would overlook that to enjoy the music. That was mostly my favorite thing to do.

Is it horrible that after learning dozens of pieces, and despite the fact that it is probably the most overplayed piano piece of all time, learned by literally everyone who has ever started piano lessons ... I still just really love Fur Elise? It's short, it's beautiful, it's easy to play yet sounds technically impressive to a layman, and let's be honest, your average listener is going to appreciate it a lot more than even the most flawless rendition of Rach 3.

i rejected my classical piano training for about two decades because of generic music like that which you are supposed to like and enjoy because everyone else does

Never too late to start again, you know, like once you settle down you could get a piano and mess around!

Huh, I never really liked it but I can see where you're coming from :O it's true that's a more widely appreciable song for sure. It's definitely nice that it's not too technically demanding and you can just sit down and play it like parlor music for friends, that kind of thing. Don't need to be extremely well-prepared or anything to sit down and play it.

But awww :[

I don't mean pop music is better. A lot of classical music that people like happens to also be soulless and mechanical for me.

ha, that's like asking "what's this piece?" to most piano students. :D
