Hey guys, I wanted to make this thread so we can have an organized spot for discussion on local BarCraft.
As of right now, we are working on getting Buffalo Wild Wings on board for this weekend's MLG event. I feel like they would be able to accommodate the 3 major local schools (MCC and RIT are close and UofR isn't too far either). I plan on presenting the idea to them tomorrow, showing them some successful BarCraft events, and a schedule of the event. I can't imagine them turning us down if we help them set up the streams and only request a couple TVs. They have a nice room in the back of the restaurant that I was planing on asking for, as we could get sound back there without disturbing anyone else watching something. With the potential to call themselves "THE place in Rochester for BarCraft" on the line, I think this is a good opportunity that they likely won't turn down, especially if we can guarantee a good crowd (this is pretty much the most important part).
A backup plan would involve Hooligans, as they have some more private booths that can accommodate around 8 or 9 people. The problem here would be only watching 1 stream at a time, which is UNACCEPTABLE
Feel free to PM me, as help with this would be nice but I don't have an issue taking the lead on this
GLHF
EDIT: BarCraft does NOT necessarily mean 21+!!!! Most establishments that we are looking into holding the events at are restaurants that allow ALL ages. DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED BY "BAR" IN THE NAME!!!

Rochester represent! :D
I'd definitely go
hey, its imolmantis from UR, i know atleast 4-5 guys aside from me that would definetly want to come
This would be excellent. It would be the one on Jefferson, right? I go there for UFC events and I know which "back room" you're talking about, it's semi-walled off but still gets good service on food/drinks.
Keep us all updated!
I'm in Oswego, and might show up to this this weekend if you guys get it off the ground. I wouldn't mind the hour drive to hang out with some fellow sc2 nerds and watch some MLG. Wouldn't be able to show up every night, but definitely either Saturday or Sunday.
Hey just made a poll to more easily show our numbers,
Poll: Would you come to a Rochester barcraft?Yes! (51) 98% no... (1) 2% 52 total votes Your vote: Would you come to a Rochester barcraft? (Vote): Yes! (Vote): no...
I'll definitely come if I can. I know the RIT Starcraft club would be very likely to go, and there's at least 20 of us.
So sad I'm cooping away from Rochester right now (RIT student), but make this one a success and I'll be at every single barcraft from MLG providence and on!
RIT student here.
Got a major project due Sunday night but if I finish early I will definitely show up.
I go to SUNY Fredonia but with enough planning and assuming the conditions are right you better count me in to this, I just need to plan. Unfortunately, theres no way I can come to this in the next couple days
Not sure on whether we would be able to get Sunday locked in because of the high demand for football, but Saturday is definitely a solid day. MCC plays UofR in the CSL Saturday at 4 so I was thinking we could all head over to B Dubs and hang afterwards. It's located on Jefferson so anyone that will be at Millennium wouldn't have to drive far.
If we could get 20 people from RIT, a handful from MCC, sone UofR guys, and some out-of-towners, this might have the potential to be a regular event (Blizzcon anyone???)
I'll keep checking here today and keep everyone posted. Fingers crossed!!
RIT student here, and I'd be up for meeting new people!
UR student here. Im definitely in.
I'd go but i'll be in orlando D: :D
I'll go, even if at cost to my own health yea buddyyyyyyyy
I would defiantly go but this weekend I had prior plans... If you guys set it up for Blizzcon count me in.
Edit: I prob could drag 1-2 of my roommates to this too.
I'm 18, can I still come? (RIT)
If you are under 21 I'm pretty sure you can still come since buffalo wild wings is both a restaurant/sports bar.
Buffalo Wild Wings is a restaurant. Anyone any age is welcome. The only issue might be if they forced us to sit at the bar, which is highly unlikely.
im going to suny geneseo which is 25 mins south of rochester, i would attend some events occasionally
RIT student reporting for duty, I'd go to that for sure... Assume I could find a way over there (other RIT students =D)... *Wink wink nudge nudge*
The day would have to be Sunday night since Wild Wings is very busy this weekend. We also need at least 50 people to reserve any kind of space in the restaurant. Perhaps we should start advertising for a Blizzcon BarCraft now.
50 people is by all means do-able so I'm going to suggest a Reddit post with MASS UPVOTES!!!
this would be so badass, im dwn
Which buffalo wild wings? The one on jefferson?
I'm definitely down for going, but Sunday night? isn't MLG over by like, sunday afternoon?
I'll be there if it's happening!

I'm definitely down for going, but Sunday night? isn't MLG over by like, sunday afternoon? The manager told me that there is a party if SEVENTY PEOPLE showing up Saturday and we would not be able to be accommodated, as Saturday is their busiest night. Sunday afternoon is booked with Football fans of course, and she said that if we got 50 people and called Sunday morning, we could probably have our own room.
Perhaps if a bunch of other people showed up expressing interest, they would catch on that this is popular? Then again, they might think we all communicate...

Could be tough, Rochester is a smallish area
There are two buffalo wild wings on jefferson, you tried both?

-Rochester is the 3rd largest city in the state -There are no other B-Dubs locations within 50 miles of Rochester, NY

Did they close the other one on jefferson? Also it's still western NY
Edit: looks like they closed the smaller one when the big one opened, did you try the anchor bar?
There have got to be other locations besides the buffalo wild wings though? With the number of college campuses in the area, bars have to be huge.
I'm a student at Syracuse, and while we don't have the largest SC scene around here (or any scene at all as far as I know) I'd be willing to make that drive a few times for Barcraft. If this gets off the ground and becomes a regular thing, it would be fantastic.
Student at U of R here, would love to see some barcraft around! Would love to meet some more people from the area into esports .
I think trying somewhere other than BWW would have been best considering their busy-ness on Saturday. We would need to find a less busy place for the weekend, especially when NFL is on.
With that said, I know it's already Friday, so if that's all we can still get is Sunday night, that's a start at least for Barcraft in Rochester.
WTB Barcraft, I'd definitely be in
Do we have around 50 people for sunday?
Here are a few alternatives to BWW that you might want to contact... I expect Saturday would be busy for any bar, and the issue is that on Sunday there are a ton of NFL games on at 1, 4, and one at 8:15 - MLG Finals are from 7-8:30. Most places with lots of HDTV's set up will be catering to the football crowd.
http://www.bathtubbillys.com/index.cfm?Page=Private Party Room - Bathtub Billy's in Greece. They have a private party room that you could inquire about.
http://www.thedistillery.com/reservations/distillery_lunch_dinner_reservations.asp - The Distillery. 4 locations around the area: Mt. Hope, Greece, Victor and Henrietta. I've only been to Mt. Hope one and there are tons of TVs in there.
http://www.tullysgoodtimes.com/ordereze/1000/Page.aspx - Tully's has amaaaaaaaazing chicken fingers, for what it's worth. I don't know if they do events (doesn't say on website). Located on Jefferson Road.
http://www.hooliganseastsidegrill.com/ - Hooligan's Eastside Grill in Webster. Not sure if they do events but they have 30+ TVs.
http://coppergrill.org/#/event/4553235710 - Copper Grill in Irondequoit. They do events and have a party room with a big Projector. $250 charge to the party host, but that's deducted from the total bill at the end.

Also, wouldn't Sunday be ideal? I know it's the day before work/classes, but the finals end around 8:30 so it's not like it's late. Personally, I'd rather have a BarCraft on Sunday for the later rounds and the Finals as opposed to Saturday where it's all pool play.
So... is this confirmed for tomorrow?
I haven't contacted anyone since meeting with the manager at Wild Wings. I really think that the best plan is to be contacting many locations all week in preparation for Blizzcon. Hoping to get a BarCraft going the day of the finals is likely not going to happen, especially on a Sunday.
Keep us posted on how this progresses, I'd love to be able to go to a BarCraft for Blizzcon! Thanks for doing this!
i think we need to keep this going. Rochester is huge. I know as of right now I hang on vent and talk with my Team about it but would much rather go to a barcraft.
As well as rochester, I know a couple people from syracuse (at least) would be willing to make the hour long drive over and have some fun if there's a big enough community. The barcraft thread for MLG providence says that buffalo just had a great event (60-70 people) so there's no reason rochester/syracuse can't do the same!
i know cyberstorm runs a tournament the first saturday of every month. It would be cool to see rochester and the surrounding areas rep'ed there. Plus i am going to see if they will let me live cast it since its what I do for my clan VP and many other leagues.
I live in the Rochester NY area and would also like to attend BarCraft events in the area. Would be great to watch some IGN ProLeague Season 4 matches with my sons. Please keep us posted if anyone sets anything up.
