1.) JWD, what is the dancing bean thing supposed to mean or represent? 2.) When an account is banned, what is the "accepted" amount of time before a person can rejoin the site? 3.) Are the PBU bans usually for people who have made an account too soon, or is it for people who get a warning or ban on their new account? Thank you for demystifying the bans--I love you all! | ||

I was also a previously banned user. Yes, of course we know if someone is a previously banned user. TL has multiple ways of letting us know that automatically, and mods are usually intuitive enough to fill in the cracks where the machine fails. If someone gets banned and immediately remakes an account, it's a snap ban. If they were a newer user who was quickly banned, I'll let it slide if they wait about a week to remake a new account. If they were a user who had plenty of warnings and temporary bans before getting permanenrtly banned, then I'll let it slide if they wait a month to make a new account; however, that previous ban will reduce all leniency on further moderation. | ||

If someone makes a new account, starts posting a lot, and then posts something ban-worthy, the ban reason will be why they were banned. Sigh, I spent an hour putting together an update post with articles, pictures, and videos on tunisia, egypt, bahrain, algeria, iran, syria, sudan, yemen, and jordan. Then when it's near complete I close the tab... -.- Are there any plans for a warning before closing out unsaved work (along with a save function). | ||
