Actually is there a guideline for using the report function anywhere? I'm eager to help tl but should I err on the side of caution?
Yeah, people who sign their posts really irk me, even if they aren't technically doing anything incorrectly. There's a reason there's a signature :/

The reason I asked to see the forum was so I could see how everything was conducted without bothering anyone but I'll figure out exactly what I want to know and PM someone instead. Better get cracking on that post though :D There is an overall head of the writing staff and beneath him heads of individual leagues. The heads of leagues sign writers from the tl pool of writers and request new guys be added to the pool. I myself was first brought on to provide a Protoss insight into the Lost Saga MSL. I got offered the gig by some good posts in the strategy forum and being in the right place at the right time. From there I got a regular job on the GOM coverage and eventually joined the OSL team. Why is that bad or reportable? And you have to be a year member of TL (that's the general standard).

yeah yeah but should I use it every time someone is being a dick on the internet? every time there is a post in the wrong section or low content OP? or only in egregious cases?
I think the signature thing is bad for obvious reasons but its ok if you like it
//LIQUID'gogo
edit: yeah that

I don't get it your statement: yeah yeah but should I use it every time someone is being a dick on the internet? every time there is a post in the wrong section or low content OP? or only in egregious cases?
What does that mean, sorry. Maybe an example could help.

He's asking when he should use the report function.
I was wondering something about the report function myself. Do people ever get banned/have the function removed for spamming it recklessly?
|
It's likely, though I don't think that's ever come as an issue.

I can't say it any more clearly. Let's try a different tack: What criteria must be met before *you* press 'report.' Do you take into account the poster's history or only the post in question?
edit: I realized this is hypothetical because you don't have that capability yet, youngin'

Oh, only report the post in question when it is in clear violation. I'm no staff member, so maybe they can answer this better, but when it comes to a question of interpreting a user's history or posts in general, it's best to leave that to those who have the tool and experience to do it.
Sorry, I didn't understand the first time because I thought it was in reference to one's signing of their posts.
(Just to add credibility, I know I haven't been here for a year, but I do have my report function, so I have some knowledge of what the hell I am saying -- this is just for anyone who comes in barging, thinking to discredit me on the basis of some superfluous detail, however one would ask why someone would do such thing when I'm just giving my two cents on a rather neutral topic that entitles and interests one to simply help with what they know)
edit: OH WOW, NICE EDIT LOOL, GLAD I WROTE WHAT I WROTE BEFORE YOU EDITED, NOW I LOOK SO COOL!

I've had my report button for quite awhile actually.

Well, he was really being obnoxious about it (regarding garybrackett's post signing)

Dude, I report borderline posts all the time. There's no reason to walk on eggshells with your reporting... if your report isn't proper, the mods will just quickly ignore it and move on.
