Are these private channels any better then regular vent servers people can make? I've had a lot of problems with vent cutting out after long concersations in my server.

Server is stable and can hold LOTS of people, hopefully more people will take notice of this and using the new channel structures to meet people of their skill level and play games and have a good time:D

Update: Server has been upgraded to 200 slots from 150.

edit: I wonder why more people don't use this! It's so cool that it's open to the whole community. I was able to meet some people and play a few games taking turns observing, lots of fun. I've been wanting to do that ever since beta started.

great idea mango, just 2 things ive noticed. firstly the hiphop player does not work, trance/dubstep works fine but the hip hop one is quiet. secondly me and some others wish to add a third music channel with hardcore/screamo or something in that matter, if you do not feel like doing that (i understand youve put alot of effort into this already) then i offer that you make me channel admin over one channel and ill set it up with a playlist and music streamer (im namned Nobbs on vent and on Sc2 now after patch)
Lastly, thanks alot for setting this up and putting the effort into it, its awesome

Hip hop stream seems to be working for me. If you want to stream your own music, you can stream in one of the music channels, I'll create a channel for you next time I see you on.

completely depends on codecs used I haven't used mumble but TS and Vent have same codecs no real difference other than interface

I ban a couple people a day, but cant stop people from changing their IP and logging again. R1CH's bot stops the worst of them though, the ones that use scripts with proxy/IP changers.

Is the vent server unstable right now? I disconnected twice and can't reconnect.
Apparently just me. Anyone know why? I can connect to other vents.
EDIT: it's just my internet but I don't know why =/

I'm going to start deleting passworded channels that haven't been used in a long time, so if your channel suddenly disappears, PM me

Damn, this a nice thing you got going on here. I'm a complete noob to SC scene, would anyone want to play me and critique my game or teach me the basics through the use of vent once the game gets released. Don't everyone jump at once now.

Hi, is there much friendly public chat going on in here or is it more like closed off for already established community members?

Try putting in 64.94.160.4 instead of chromium.typefrag.com

ok ... I am a noobish European player who would really like to play some non stressfull games where I would actually be able to take time and learn befor jumping back to the ladders .. as I logged in to vent I got a bit lost ... where next time I might be a bit more talkative ...
I am very low ranked :-) as my apm is still too low, but as I made a choice after using the 'random' race I switched to zerg and actually was able to do a spine-crawler/zergling bust on another zerg which is my greatest accomplishment with an actualy strategy so far ...
is there someone using vent as well willing to be a mentor?? or are there clans that have like 'academies' for noobs like me ?

Server full due to high volume of people on.
Once I managed to get on the TL vent I noticed about 40 russians playing WoW. I really do not have a problem with Russians in general but I come on this vent to find people to play in the Diamond USA channels and the server stays full due to people using the starcraft ventrillo for WoW. =(

No, there is no exclusivity clause. I've actually been meaning to move to TS3 for a while now, so this sponsorship by Teamspeak was fortuitous
The vent server will be shut down by mid next year.

changed server settings to kick/disconnect after 20 mins of inactivity (instead of moving to afk channel) to help free up more slots.

Ventrilo is not as easy to administer, and they pretty much fucked up their licensing scheme imo.
They don't have the same edge in sound quality as they used to either.
These days mumble is my best loved alternative.

There's been a sudden influx of random people who just hop in channels and start doing obnoxious things such as constantly chewing on chips, emitting loud static, and it's really irritating when you're in the middle of a game, cause you can't really tab out to mute em. They just end up hopping around, staying in each channel for like 20-30 seconds and then leaving so you can't mute them in time. It's irritating, and was wondering who I could bother to get stuff like this settled.
Oh btw, thanks for the usage of Vent.

use the complaint feature, and I can track them down by IP and ban them
