What do you guys think of adding in coconut oil in a diet? I've read many articles and fitness forum threads regarding how coconut oil can help lose weight. I plan on testing it out for myself to see if it actually works. I already work out 3-4 days for at least 1 hour and 15 minutes while eating mainly veggies and fish/meat.

Eat more meat.
Eat only when you are hungry.

Coconut is primarily medium chain triglycerides which the body prefers as a fat fuel source for energy. Thus, it would assist in helping to raise fat burning in the body -- but only a hypocaloric diet really...

In reality you can just eat healthy (e.g. real foods) and you'd lose weight just fine. Coconut is definitely on that list and tasty though so have at it.

Ehhh, it's decent.

Antioxidants and apples definitely don't promote fat burning though. Anying that is significantly carbs (aka insulinogenic) drives calories into cells. If you don't have the energy demand it's going into fat cells.

Guys, I signed up for my first ever 10k, I do not run and never have but I've always worked out and conditioned for basketball. So far I'm have a great workout schedule consisting of running daily, lifting and doing sprints to get my overall sped up. The 10k is called "Cleveland Rite-Aid marathon" It is on May 17th and I still have to get into better shape since I not only want to finish under 1 hour but also want to win, I probably won't win it since there are marathon runners in it that are doing it at full sprint... FOR 6.2 MILES THEY WILL SPRINT... crazy bastards!!

what are you doing now?

Adding deadlifts to the list of things i've done this week i havent done in eons. Got in a couple sets of 315 before my form started to slip so i went down a bit. Proceeded to rape my back lats and biceps. Bent over row weight is recovering well after doing them just once, gives me hope the rest of my lifts will be coming back quickly, i hate not being able to squat 400 Tomorrow is chest/tris, gonna be rough. never taking a break from lifting again (even due to injury?)!

I'm 5"10, 165 pounds and I can only deadlift like 180lbs. That seems really bad to be considering I'm not in bad shape and I can actually bench that same amount. Is this weird or anything I should be worried about? Also my squat is about that as well.

All foods help you lose weight! ....if you stop eating them.

when anyone benches more than they squat/deadlift, IMHO it would be because:
1. you haven't spent nearly the same amount of time with squats/deadlifts as you have on the bench press
2. you have terrible form.

the first reason seems more likely though.

Both good threads about training and mentality

It is mostly about an American coach, John Broz which is training some great lifters in a Bulgarian style system.
I really learned a lot from this thread. Its more about having the right mindset then anything is achievable.

Yeah...It's a lot harder for me to get into a lifting mindset without my music since my headphones broke. I'm less motivated and lift less weight when i'm not in the zone.

It's amazing how once you're on a clean, controlled diet, even one night of splurging makes you feel rather oily/disgusting the next morning and instantly makes you resolve to get back to normal dietary consumption.

This is true... except it has more to do with the disgusting-ness of processed foods after you start eating clean. It is really like putting poison into your body..

*recalling saturday night...*

At the very least I can say that I managed to eat zero processed foods actually, it was mainly the Shimofuri meat I ate,
[image loading]

plus the fact that as a consequence, I consumed like 2000 excess calories that night after spending the week on a emga-spartan diet T_T
(oh wait fuck I had ice cream at that restaurant, fml)

Back to the good ol' clean stuff! <3<3

So, how many pull ups can you guys do? It's my favourite exercise, but I've gone down some reps after purposely gaining weight... Can probably hit around 10 now with good form.

Probably about 20. My best weighted is with +130 lbs though if that counts. Pretty poor endurance because I really only train strength.

+130?! woah man that's sick. absolutely mind boggling O_o
last time i tried i was able to do 10 pull ups (a few months ago), it probably has increased by a bit since then.

btw i have a question for you eshlow..you have stated on numerous occasions that one should aim for 1.5x bw squat, 2x bw deadlift so on and so forth. what should the goal be with weighted pullups??

For some reason my right rotator cuff loses any feeling when I benchpress, while my left shoulder still retains strength. Any effective exercises to warmup and fix the strain, preferably with the resistance band?
