I told someone at work about it, he did his entire family's order. $350 worth of stuff. Which would equate to something like $1200 worth if he bought it here in Australia. -----------
Question.
Am I going to develop any physical imbalances as I progress more and more through SS, IF my bench and op are always significantly lower?
I fucked up my left rotator cuff about 12-18 months ago and it has never been the same.
I mean it's kind of ridiculous, I was at about 80kg bench and around 55kg op when I injured my shoulder. And since then, even though I have increased my squat and deadlift by about 40% my Bench and op are about 70kg/40kg.... Pretty soon I'm going to be squatting 140kg and benching 75-80 >__<.
Bleh, I pretty much have the same problem. My left shoulder in particular is just shot to pieces. It's functional and all, but I always hit ceilings in my bench and shoulder press I never seem to be able to get past. Every time I think I'm getting there I'll pop a shoulder again and it's back to square one!
I'm sure a lot of it may be in my head, but my shoulder never feels stable once I pack on some decent weight.

Likely need some horizontal pulling, and specific external rotator cuff work

I get unlimited access to my gym for 11,500 yen a month.
Pricey, I know, but it has a weight room, a pool, an onsen, a shower room, free tanning area, and so on. It's a nice gym.
There are M-Fr access options for around 8,400 yen a month though. I work out Sunday so I can't do it >_<.
holy crap 11,500 yen is like C$135 >< japan is hella expensive. isn't it possible to get your own rack/bench/300lb weights for like $400? i haven't looked myself, but that's what i've heard..
My apartment is waaaaaaaaaaay too small to fit all of that equipment in. It only has one room and a kitchen.
If I end up building a house in the future, one of the things I want to put in is a decent sized basement with a concrete floor. I've always wanted to have my own decked lifting room with a power rack, a benching area, some dumbbells, and an olympic lifting section. Maybe it is a little bit ... well, not economical, but I'd be happy to pay the money if I'm living alone.
i plan on having my own set of equipment for strength training in the future as well. i'll probably also get me a pair of gymnastics rings, always wanted to try doing push ups/dips on those. won't be happening anytime soon but still...

It's nice to think about it .
Does anybody have any of the sources we've mentioned about grains before? I can't find the ones that really damn grains, and I'd like to read up on this subject.

The only time I hurt my shoulder benching was when I used one of these damn horizontal benching machines. Had to start at a position that was so low that I had to fiddle myself into it and then had to lift first before I could get myself into an ideal benching position. I switched to free weights and pretty much never had problems anymore... Maybe checking if you're using a correct form is enough to get rid of your problems?
I started doing squats and deadlifts lately. Squatting felt comfortable from second 1, I started with 60, 80, 100kg and did significantly more than 10 reps with each, then tried 120 and it didn't feel so good any more. I could still do 5 or more reps, but I felt like the form was suffering. I'll go with 100 until I'm used to the weight of the barbell on my shoulders. Feels good so far.
Deadlifts I'm less comfortable with, I'll get someone to check my form. Started with 80, 100, 130kg. Won't add more weight until I know I'm doing it right. I'd do some videos for you to evaluate, but I don't have a camera currently.

Push Press: 47,5kg x 5, 55kg x 5 and 60kg x 10 (felt goooood!) Dips: BW x 10, BW x 10, BW + 10kg x 10 and BW + 15kg x 10 (been a long time since I did those!) Reverse hypers: 3 sets of BW x 15.
Trying to focus more on my second pull and really finishing. Obviously its still a work in progress How much of a difference is there between the first and second pull, like should they be noticeably different sections of the lift or flow together? Also, going into a full squat on snatch is SO incredibly hard. jesus christ. On the bright side, i have never felt so manly and i was only doing 105 pounds lol. Oly lifting is ridiculous. Explosiveness here i come!
your snatch grip is too narrow. Try widening it which will help your lockout.
try not to "donkey kick", as in that motion of kicking your feet up in the air. Its just wasted motion. If you watch the faster lifters, they barely get off the floor since they are more focused on getting under the bar. More time you are in the air = less time getting under the bar. watch the feet:
The pull should just flow, dont worry too much about it. Also invest in some weightlifting shoes if u have the money.
Yeah i'm not really trying to jump it just happens lol. I'll work on it. I dont really want to spend 140 on weightlifting shoes I'll see if i can get some for christmas.

lol..... i occasionally eat them if I go out.... I just try not to have any with anything I like to eat.
Decaf: would you be willing to spend $120 on weightlifting shoes?
If you order the Risto White Weightlifting shoe right now, and your size is anything other than 48 or I think like 39-41, they'll send you the new White Thunder ($140) ones for no additional charge because the other is on backorder until 2011.
Other good ones are apparently Rogue weightlifting shoes, which run for $115. People say avoid the Adidas and Do-Wins if you have anything but very narrow feet.
The ones Dimsum linked say they're discontinued, but are they still available?

Quiet achiever.
A friend was doing deadlifts today and asked me to check his form, had a 140kg(308) with straps and managed 3 reps, I gave him some pointers and quickly jumped in to show him, no straps no chalk 10 reps, put the weight down, "alright, now you try".
It is still going to be a couple of years before I get anywhere near you and shallow's numbers though ;(.
Also, thank fuck for iherb and 5000iu caps, I've been taking 20k a day to battle a cold, if I had to take 20 x 1000iu which are the only ones you can buy in Australia, I would have emptied the bottle by now.
I was fighting a cold last week, so I took 10k IU per day. I don't know if it was the vitamin D, but I was able to hammer it out of my system in about 3 days. Pretty much skipped the runny nose phase too.
