Power cleans are fucking awesome for you. If you cant do them i think either 5x5 or SS replaces them with bent over rows, which arent nearly as awesome for you but oh well.

The Practical Programming For Novices (given in Rippetoe's Practical Programming book) replaces Power Cleans with chin ups. Still zombie mode. I just threw a T-Bone the size of my head onto the barbecue, hopefully it cheers me up.

I just threw a T-Bone the size of my head onto the barbecue, hopefully it cheers me up. i always thought RPM was incredibly boring. there's just no comparison between stationary biking and actual outdoor biking. but that's just mine ![]()

![]() Is it a bad idea to take a nap before exercising? When i was doing sprints yesterday i felt completely drained like i was made of lead and was finishing in the middle of the pack like half way through, breathing felt weird, head felt weird; when usually i'm one of the fastest. Game #2 coming up, undefeated season gogogogo + Show Spoiler [blatant brag + encouragement for SS] + Also, following ss/5x5 with moderately healthy diet can give you, direct quote from my friend's friend (girl), "the body of a god" :D. Keep in mind i havent bench pressed or done any sort of curls or really exercised any sort of typical "glamour" muscle since like june. Keep at it and you'll see results (like ret!)

He's wrong about that one though. It kind of depends on one's innate flexibility and athleticism, but I'd say lots of younger(16-30) trainees can probably do it on their own. Anyone older, younger, or female will probably need a coach though, yes.

I would say doing power cleans the right way will need a coach. But if you dont care about learning the exact form, then you can learn on your own.

If anyone here is in need of a "good" video explaining how to do PowerCleans and why are they done the way they are... YOU NEED TO WATCH MARK RIPPETOE'S VIDEOS. I'm dead serious about this, get it, it's a seriously good series of videos, which will help tremendously in your form, shape and overall exercising. I'm planing on sending the Deadlift video to my iPhone, and show it to the guys at the gym, so they stfu and let me do my shit the way I learned/want to.
