If your ss call can help save a teammate then...why the fuck would you not do it. Not only that, but you then deflect the blame to him, saying that he should have watched the map, when in fact the map isn't a 100% way to know if someone is ss or not. The player in the other lane could just be healing, in high ground vision, gone to check a rune or what the fuck ever. in short, call the fucking SS. Communication is key in a team game, do it.
Exactly my point. Just another person thinking it is a one on one game. As a guy who has played Starcraft since around 1998 I can confidently say I have a decent grasp on my map but that was just one illustration of the point I was making which is that communication in a team game is what matters... If you don't want to be vocal there are plenty of single player games out there.
The response feels like playing man on man basketball and when your guy breaks away with the ball and shoots, it must be the other teammates to blame for not having better court awareness. Map awareness can of course be an issue but so can people not understanding that they have a responsibility to the team to keep at least rough tabs on the players they have the most contact with.
But it's relaxing to shelter oneself from any blame or responsibility, I admit.

Actually DotA does have pretty awful design from a conventional video game design standpoint
But clearly people love it, so something about the design works, even if it doesn't agree with conventional video game design

You don't even have to type the miss or use the slider thingy. Just bind a keybind (i have it on Z) that automatically calls it when you press the key. Easiest fucking thing done without any negative affect to your play.
I understand not calling "miss" if someone on your lane dies. Then i agree that if you aren't following either the minimap, killchat or the hero tab on top, and get ganked, you deserve it.

Calling SS via the slider literally consists of pressing Y and nudging your mouse right lightly. That's it, no need to bind anything.
anyhow, just watched a game on Merlini's stream - I have to commend the dude for having nerves of steel. A teammate that bitched constantly for 50 minutes straight, a russian player that kept typing in capslock the entire game (the only thing I understood was CYKA), constant elemntary-school level bickering between the two teams, no teamplay, just a really terrible game. Not from a skill point of view, but just from a human point of view. It was the collective effort of 10 people with 6~ of them trying to make the other players have the least amount fun as possible.

Honestly, the effectiveness of trilaning isn't good enough to be worth it if your carry can't control the lane. Better to just get kills in the other 2 lanes.
We've actually started to go for aggressive tri-lanes and just leaving the pub to do what he likes on the easy lane. It gives us the ability to gank mid a bit easier as well. Just means we generally push to win it in the mid game rather than relying on our carry.

People like to complain about pub teammates (well, in general people like to complain about everything), but it works the other way too. I've had plenty of games in stacks where the one guy not in the party bails us out and plays really well. Competent teammates who know what they're doing and actually communicate with you aren't really that rare, it's just the odd 13 year old kid who plays carry Jakiro while spamming portugese in caps lock sticks out a lot more.

70 minutes of fun. Probably the most entertaining match of my dota carreer. We lose because 12 hp is too much. 12 hp.. 12 god damn hp. 12 is a huge number for dota. I hate 12. I HATE 12!!!!!

fucking retarded two stack
picks pudge, the other picks sf.The last guy to pick picks spectre lol. sf says he will come top with me (alche) and proceeds to auto attack, his starting item is a wraith band wraith band. When I take the last hits and tell him not to auto attack he calls me selfish, and asks me why I'm not attacking and helping him.
He then proceeds to rage at me in all caps calling me a kser(score at this point is 0-0), because I make him do all the work and just hit at the end for the "kill" da fuq this guy.............. Meanwhile pudge decides he should gank, calls to his buddy. They proceed proceeds to start feeding too, goes 0-5 in a few minutes, of course with only a wraith band you run into a creep wave for a gank in a sven lion combo, expect to get killed. Pudge can hook a stunned lion. Decided to turn off all chat and hope the game would end fast. Ended with sniper buying two divine rapiers. but after 15 long minutes.

QQing about carry pickers. I've had a game when we had 4 carries and I'm the only one playing support. It was not a good time @_@

Not that I agree with the other guy about game design, but one of my biggest perpetual QQs is that the ruleset with BKB is so annoying. It blocks some spells, but not others. Most ults can go through it, but not all. Some spells you can BKB out of, some you can't. I really wish BKB had some sort of ruleset, say: Blocks all stun and damage spells. Or something along those lines, or at the very least put in the tooltip for spells "this spell goes through avatar." It's really frustrating that everytime I see a BKB go off, I don't know what works and what doesn't work because I haven't tried the ~300 spells in the game on someone that is in avatar form.
Should I global silence with silencer if BKB goes off? I definitely feel like curse of the silent won't work. If i'm SD, then can i use demonic purge, that works on naix in rage, but will it work on a BKB? How about soul catcher? Disruption? How about tidehunters ult? Will a BKB even take damage from anchor smash? Mag's ult works, does enigma's ult work? Will a BKB take damage from midnight pulse?
I guess my point is, there is no obvious answer to what works and what doesn't. There is no ruleset it seems that one can follow. Which to me is very frustrating and extremely annoying.

Some more things I hate about pubs:
1) People who, in the middle of a game, are like "soz i gotta go mom's calling" or something retarded like that. Dude....don't queue for a game if you know you're not going to finish it. You're fucking over like 9 other people. Also, try not being 11 one day.
2) People who, when they are losing, are like "w/e idc about this game." Just played against a tuskarr who just started bitching in all-chat about how he "is actually good but just doesn't care sometimes." Literally wanted to walrus punch him in the face.
3) People who flame their teammates.
4) People who flame their teammates when they are the WORST player on their team. Yeah, good idea. Feed 0-10-0 and then bitch about your carry, who is actually accomplishing things this game.

yeah bkb is pretty hilarious. The general rule for stuff going through bkb is it goes through when it does. So like silencer ult is Superior Magic so it goes through. Shadow demon's ult goes through it to slow but I don't think it purges it off. You can purge off Omni's Repel using a diffusal blade but you can't purge Avatar with a diffusal blade (I think). SD's Q does not go through. Pretty sure enigma ult and tide MAG ult are the same, as in, it goes through but it doesn't damage. It will stun and move the hero though. In the same sense, Necro ult doesn't damage through bkb but it DOES stun. Same as Treebeard Beardtree's ult, though if you get ulted by him THEN bkb, it purges the ult and you can walk around.
In terms of "ults that damage through bkb" you're quite limited. Generally bkb blocks all spell damage, with a few exceptions. Doom's ult goes through bkb because his ult is unpurgeable and perplexes you, preventing item use, so naturally using an item can't prevent it. Jugg ult still works because his ult is physical rather than magic. General rule is though that BKB blocks any damage from ults. except for when it doesn't.

I think it's a bit confusing at first but there's not that many interactions IMO.
There's definitely some weird interactions and I agree that the tooltips should help you on that (I believe Valve has gotten around to adding that stuff recently)
however, from personal experience I understood BKB interaction to work primarily this way, with some exceptions for sake of balance: usually with ults, damage does not go through but disable does. For almost everything else, everything is blocked.
But really it's just best to memorize it; when you play a new hero, learn what goes through BKB and what does not.
