Question/Tip for other naos users: I noticed the naos software is hooked up to windows mouse settings, but it only goes from 1-10 as opposed to windows 1-11. Easiest way to get 1:1 pixel setting is to fix your mouse settings in naos software, save it, close the program, then go into windows mouse settings and put it at the 6th notch. When you open the naos software you can see windows has changed the sensitivity to just over 5, which is equivalent to 6/11 and 1:1 pixel ratio. Currently i use these settings Pointer precision (windows): off Sensitivity (windows): 6/11 Ingame Sensitivity (SC2): 51% (since it works at increments of 5, 51-54% is 1:1) Reduce mouse lag (SC2): SC2 reads raw mouse data (skips windows, so my settings there dont matter right?) Naos software: 1600 dpi at 1920x1200, every special features disabled more or less

I guess I basically answered my own question, so I'll pose a more simple one: have people had bad experiences with either of the G500 or the Death Adder?

You can take the outer shell off for a sleeker feel, or add the even bigger shell (3 sizes). Additionally, it has the highest DPI of any mouse, you can customize the lighting colors, the scroll wheel pressure for click or scroll can be adjusted, and the grip is nonslip. Great so i can adjust the weight of a mouse that is already heavy as a brick without any weights! Also DPI higher than 3000 makes gaming or working more or less impossible so DPI shouldnt be the factor by which you choose a mouse!

I know that probably isn't feasible however, and I was just looking for confirmation that the best way to do this would be to pick one and be ready and willing to return it if I don't like the feel of it? I guess I basically answered my own question, so I'll pose a more simple one: have people had bad experiences with either of the G500 or the Death Adder? The best way to do this would be to drop by at a local retailer that has several different mice on display and to hold each one in your hand for some time to see how they feel. Unless you're living somewhere in the rural outback with no retailer for the next few hundred miles, this should be much more practical than ordering mice and returning them when they don't fit. Chances are you'll miss out on some really great mice if you stick too much to a certain model or brand before deciding, since the choice of a mouse is largely a matter of personal taste and few people can really help you with that.

my mouse is an old microsoft wireless mouse with 400 dpi. lol. i understand if i get an mx 518 with 1600 dpi and keep everything else the same i will move the mouse 1/4 as much to get the same cursor movement. that's a crazy increase in sensitivity which i won't be able to get used to. do i put the dpi at 1600 and turn down the sc2 sense really low? will i notice a difference? i never really notice problems currently, but now that ive been reading on it it seems like maybe my mouse is terrible and not precise at all. (i guess i do have some issues with precision on the minimap sometimes). help? btw ~2600 master, so something must be working okay for me.

B) DPI above 3000 does NOT make gaming/working impossible. You need to adjust your sensitivity.

![]() Seriously, my best friend knew it was my birthday and that I was building a budget PC computer, so he bought me a mouse he felt was great and a great price. He also knew Idra uses it. It seems fine to me, but I read a lot of people saying how horrible it is because of the acceleration built into the mouse. I just simply disable it in the Kinzu menu, as well as delete the registry for mouse acceleration. It seems like everyone who has one, says they are awesome, while everyone who doesn't have them talk about how bad they are because of this supposed acceleration. Could anyone enlighten me about the Kinzu Steelseries, and why it's such a bad mouse? Or, otherwise, why it's so great? i like it so far, really appreciate my friend's present!

Also DPI higher than 3000 makes gaming or working more or less impossible so DPI shouldnt be the factor by which you choose a mouse! I just bought this and have been using it for a few days, so I'll chip in with my comments. Wall of text inc. + Show Spoiler + First off, there aren't three sizes. You could use it without a shell but if you do it's the most unergonomic mouse in history with absolutely terrible side buttons. You are supposed to use the shells, of which there are two : Precision and.. uh, comfort grip. I haven't actually used the bigger shell (the comfort one) but I got the impression that the mouse feels nicer with a palm grip, though it felt like the shell kind of got in the way. The precision grip is.. weird. It is as if it shaped for someone having their hands hovering about 2-3cm above the desk, I tend to rest my hand using the fingertip grip, with the pivot bone Day9 mentioned in his mechanical daily staying on my desk. If I do my pinky sits just a bit too far back, which isn't too comfortable. If i move it forward the back of the mouse hits the palm of my hand and I couldn't play like that for the life of me, though I imagine this is something I'll get used to. It also has a "Dry grip technology" (yeah..) material which keeps sweaty hands from gliding around the mouse. It's a bit like sandpaper that has been used for too long, won't scratch your skin by any means but definitely serves its purpose. It is worth noting that the precision shell doesn't glide at all, I used to tilt my mouse a bit when I lifted it and moved it but that doesn't work at all. Gotten used to it by now however. The two side buttons are nice, harder to press than on a IEM 3.0 but not overly so. They're just above my thumb which is ideal. No complaints there. As for the middle mouse button there are two modes, one of which has harder scrolling with a lot of tactile feedback, apparently it is used for switching weapons in FPS games without scrolling too much. Another small nitpick is that it's easy to press the scroll left or right while in the "gaming mode", as it is quite hard to press down. I do it rarely nwo though, and have only been using the mouse for a few days. Well, it definitely works. A bit harder to scroll than a regular mouse but it's not going to give your hand cramps or anything. It's positioned a bit further to the right of the mouse so it's easy to use whatever finger you have on your right mouse button to scroll, which is a bit meh on normal mouses. The second mode however has a few issues. The point is that it removes all tactile feedback and makes it easy as hell to scroll. And it is, if I spin it fast it'll keep scrolling on its' own, definitely feels nice. BUT if you have that mode enabled the mouse will rattle as it'll be a lot looser than it should be. I just stopped using that mode, but I suppose it's a nitpick. The DPI buttons are placed well, easy to access but near impossible to press on accident, you can have five different DPI settings stored on one profile if you find that necessary. But don't buy the mouse for 5200 DPI, because no one in their right mind would use that, unless you use a 70inch television as your main computer screen. That said you can store three profiles on the mouses memory if you visit LANs and such, you can also have an infinite amount of profiles on your harddrive. As for the software it's not perfect but with a bit of tweaking you can get everything to your liking. I rebind my side buttons to shift and ctrl and I had to make a macro that uses shift and ctrl respectively, kind of figured that would be an option to have as an input already. Oh and you can change the LED lights, I hope the mouse wasn't more expensive because of that :/ Precision wise the mouse is absolutely amazing. I haven't used many gaming mouses outside of the Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 but playing on really high sensitivity I definitely notice a difference. I play a 6/11 Windows with 1700 DPI and the mouse definitely feels precise. No problems using it on a Steelseries QCK mousepad either. All in all it is a gaming mouse if there ever was any. I can't imagine using only this mouse at an office for example. If you like resting your hand on your mouse while browsing (palm grip) you have to get used to the feeling of a small shoe in your hand. But if you use a fingertip grip the ergonomics definitely work for gaming. Other than the scroll using the loose mode the mouse feels solid, I doubt the right or left click will break anytime soon, ditto for the side buttons. I like it, but it's not a perfect mouse. A bit more long winded than I was going for but hey, there you have it.
