XIM4 & other Controller-Mouse Keyboard Converters

Hey,

I own several consoles (previous and current gen) and love FPS. However, I just can't play /enjoy them with a controller. I do not want to cheat out people on multiplayer, but would really love to enjoy Halo 3 & 4 like PC-shooters.

So I googled and stumbled across XIM4, supposedly being the most advanced device right now (http://xim4.com/). It comes at quite a price: roughly 170€ to get over here.

Does anyone own a xim4 and is there ANY noticable inputlag? I am well aware that aiming might feel a little jerky due to games being tailored towards consoles, but I really would not want to waste that amount of money on useless garbage.
Does it work well on all the consoles mentioned?

First and foremost however: Are there cheaper alternatives offering similar quality?

I've heard of problems with things like negative acceleration on mouse using these adapters on the console engines, and there is higher input lag when playing at lower framerates. While i'm pretty biased against competitive gaming on a console (and i play all of my fps games at triple digit FPS @144hz) i think it's a better idea to just accept the loss of the few good FPS's that are console exclusive, and get into some stuff using PC platform instead.

Oh, I love PC FPS of course. Nonetheless, there have not been all too many good games out lately, with the last one I enjoyed having been RTCW. From what I have heard the XIM4 (it's rather new) should be solving a lot of the issues that older devices had (hence also the price, I guess...).

I do not plan on playing multiplayer. Playing Halo with M+K would naturally ruin the competition of course. Practically cheating.

In that case, maybe it would be alright. I've yet to see one working well though - only seen videos of people using very high sensitivity, like turning 180 degrees by flicking their fingers/wrist. PC FPS is more usually played with a ~12-30cm or so distance moved on mouse sensor to turn 180 degrees

Saw those videos as well, coming to the same conclusion: It doesn't tell me anything, my pad is 45cm wide for a reason haha.
