One good benefit of having a transparent side is that you can check if the fans are spinning while its running.

I use to have one of those and it looked amazing when I got it, two years later it was a scratched up mess T.T.!

Acrylic is a mess. https://www.amazon.ca/Meguiars-G12310-PlastX-Plastic-Cleaner/dp/B0000AY3SR PlastX is probably your best option if you want to restore this back to normal. Get this, a foam pad and some elbow grease to get it back to clear. It's an absolute pain in the ass to manage unfortunately.

I am dual residency between Philippines/ US and I go between them about twice every year. I am usually pack my PC stuff rather tightly so it doesn't shift around in handling. Still gets bumped around enough with a giant 'FAGILE! or THIS SIDE UP!' sticker plaster on every side of the bag xd!. I don't have that case anymore, I ended up trashing after the front open flap top panel that closed over cd/dvd drive broke. I really like the look of them though. I have 3 case fans now that have soft blue LED lighting/CPU also soft blue. I'm kind of tempt to buy some lighting for GPU and just clear side panel for it. I re-use old case to reduce out of the build someone reco here to put together the machine but I was more 'Let's get this machine together running!' than cosmetics... @Lmui Thanks! Never heard about it. I'll search around! I'm not having old case anymore but I like clear cases because I'm nerd. Computer hardware looks neat to me. Acrylic didn't stand abuse I apparently put stuff through, which is ok, I can run metal case if I have to not minding!

1500 CDN, I already have a GTX 970 I will use as well. What is your monitor's native resolution? 1920x1080 What games do you intend to play on this computer? What settings? Starcraft 2 and Dota 2 What do you intend to use the computer for besides gaming? School work Do you intend to overclock? No Do you intend to do SLI / Crossfire? No Do you need an operating system? Yes Do you need a monitor or any other peripherals and is this part of your budget? No If you have any requirements or brand preferences, please specify. I have no preferences. What country will you be buying your parts in? Canada If you have any retailer preferences, please specify. I have none.

Edit: Forgot to ask.. Whats your current build? 1500 CAD (~1100 USD) is quite the budget if you want to keep the GTX970. What you need is: CPU: Ryzen 3600 ($200) MOBO: B450 max-version (comes pre-flashed for Ryzen 3000' series (for compatibility)) ($80-120) RAM: Corsair LPX 3200MHz - 16 GB ($80-100) SSD: 1 TB - Intel 660p ($100-120) PSU: 500-600W Bronze preferred ($50-70) CASE: Your choice. Doesnt need to cost more than $30-70. Windows 10 downloadable for free. If you want a license thats around $30-50. Your bottleneck in this build would be the GPU (GTX970) if you ever decide to upgrade it for more FPS in 1440p or even 1080p (144hz Monitor). Thats 730 USD ~970 CAD on the rough side. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/bKwPyX

I have none. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/9GqsbX With the higher budget, I'd spring for the 3700X. Not much reason not to - I recommended the MSI Tomahawk in the past but the recent motherboard performance controversy deserves a bit of caution. It's probably worth waiting a week or two for that to get sorted, and more information to come out. No motherboard recommendation at this time, but budgeting ~150 for it makes the total about $1200 Where you can change: 1. Cooler - can add a cooler for lower noise if the stock one bothers you 2. Memory - can go to 32gb, but 16gb of quick 3600 memory might be a better compromise if you're just gaming 3. Storage- I chose a 1tb quick SSD, but you're free to downsize it and get a large HDD, or get a larger SSD if you need more storage, or a smaller SSD if you need less storage 4. Case - completely personal. I like an understated clean case like the fractal design define series cases, but others want windows/RGB etc. OS - If you have an existing system, just transfer the windows license over, or if it's windows 7/8, just use the free upgrade program - it apparently still works lol.

I would strongly advice against 3700X compared to 3600. Reasons being 2 more cores for double the cost. Close to identical single-thread performance. SC2 from the little research ive done uses 2 cores. He would be struggling to use even 6 cores as compared to 8 with 3700X. Its imo bad value for money. 3600 is sweet spot. Save the cash and make use for a GPU upgrade (as its the bottleneck).

Im still looking for a reference to my statement.. Most tests include Ryzen 2600 vs 3700X which is just stupid as they dont have the same speed in Single-Thread. On paper however. It doesnt look like 3700X will give any performance boost for SC2 compared to 3600. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/AMD-Ryzen-5-3600-vs-AMD-Ryzen-7-3700X/3481vs3485 Im still not impressed with 3700X vs 2600 either: Measily 20 fps difference for close to triple the price. Dota 2 from the tests ive seen doesnt seem to require a lot from either CPU/GPU. 3600 will run at 20%, 1660Ti at 40% (200 FPS).

Also what you call "20fps" at times is e.g. 73 vs 51fps, aka a 43% performance improvement. That's a pretty big deal.

If hes to buy 3700X to expect some crazy performance say vs 2600/3600, then hes in for a waste of money. If this was at max settings in SC2 not even 3700X is enough (with the 2 cores used) to keep a 144Hz. You would need to lower settings to hit that mark. And for RAM it does seem to matter somewhat: But not by a huge amount though.

However unless the OP uses 144Hz monitor he will be 60Hz capped and close to at so with 2600. SC2 doesn't have anywhere even close to stable frame pacing, so if it says 60fps then many of those frames will be taking about 1/40th of a second (aka "40fps") and others will be taking 1/90'th of a second. That averages out to 60 but many of the frames take much longer than a 60hz refresh so the game is far less smooth and responsive than it would be with each frame taking an even 1/60'th of a second. You can easily tell the difference between 80 and 120fps on a 60hz screen because of the poor frametime distribution inherent to the engine. Most of the settings in the game don't really affect performance either as long as you have a semi-modern GPU, it's only really physics/effects/reflections which change the CPU load. The fastest CPU's really struggle at times even on minimum settings.

Most competitive gamers run on bare naked settings anyway which is a lot easier to run. My ancient machine use to run SC 2 and it was pushing 5 years old! I don't know though, sounds like you guys are a heck of a lot more knowledgeable than me :p!
