Yea i guess. Shipping is a risk to a lot of stuff but mostly the biggest air heatsinks

Those little motherboard brackets are surprisingly tough in my experience. That said, even driving with it I'm sure I'm 10x more gentle with it than a shipping company would be (not to mention I've received boxes with literal holes in them roughly where a foot would go...).

Hey fella I'm on a tight budget, have a prebuilt work computer with an i5 haswell 4670, 8gb ddr3 ram and small tower case. All I'm looking for is being able to play dota 2 preferably on high settings (but medium works fine as long as it's silky smooth). Was looking at the GeForce GT210 1gb, it's only $60 NZD, and I really don't wanna spend more than 100 NZD on a card.
Will the GT210 do what I want it to do?

In short: Probably not.
It's really really hard to spend $60 NZD on a card and get something worthwhile. For the most part, the haswell i5 igpu is going to be on par or better than any card that's less than $100 NZD. for around $110 NZD you can get an R7 240 which SHOULD be able to somewhat outperform your igpu.
The R7 240 will be able to max out Dota on a crappy monitor, but on a 1080p monitor you would get 30ish fps. If you want to get 60 fps with max settings in Dota 2, something like a GTX 750 or an R7 250X would be closer to the mark, though I haven't used either of those cards. This price range is about $160-$200 NZD

Pretty sure that thing is miles worse than your integrated graphics. NZ$ seems to suck.

at that price you'd probably look for a used ati 7870 or something, though do double check what the wattage on your prebuilt PSU is
|
How about a GT750 2gb? Otherwise I mite just get the R7 250

Make sure your PSU can handle the power requirements of your build. GPUs require power and if your PSU was put in place with only plans to power what's there now it might not work

(Prebuilts usually have really crappy PSUs)

Hey dudes and dudettes, big thanks for the information and suggestions. I am indeed hellbent on buying a new one and yes the case is something i want for sure. I was under the impression that skylake was superior to broadwell but you probably know better heh.. Nice to see the soundcard was a good pick guess i got lucky, i wasnt sure what cooler to pick so just yoloed it but ill go with the one you selected, does IT fit in my case btw? At work and the autocorrecting to swedish is brutal right now ill add more text later. For now, thanks

@Firkraag8 thanks for the sweclockers link, my knowledge here is very limited and basic but to me it looks like the 6700k will be superior to a broadwell? also, saw the build you put up it does look nice only thing im curious about is why go for lower mhz on ram, isnt 2133 standard today?? did i miss something x)
perhaps the E cpu they presented 5960X is a option here?

Skylake is better but the current skylake processors don't have a stock cooler and the motherboards are really expensive so you end up giving a ton more money that may not be worth it in the end. Also, the current released stuff is mostly for overclockers.
I think the main important thing about Skylake isn't the speeds but the features and peripherals. Right now, there isn't really any technology that really utilizes the new features that well. You can future proof but you got to shell out a ton more money when the performance gains over broadwell isn't that noticeable.

If you mean GTX750 with GT750 (an X is missing) that would be very enough for dota, but check your psu like others said. 750 don't draw much power (max 55w) but your psu might be a crappy 200w workplace one.

www.pcworld.com It seems gtx 950 is out. Kewl. I like that sweet spot cards.

@KapsyL & IceHism
Broadwell is faster for gaming which is what he said he will use the computer for. The 1866 memory I picked has low latency and will make up for the lower frequency.
I'm not at my computer right now but I'm pretty sure that you shouldn't go x99 platform with 5960x. Either pick broadwell for the strength in games or skylake for overall performance and the more modern features.
The H100 cooler will for sure fit your case, Inet will mount it in the top.

Cool. I'm thinking just to go for the skylake though instead of broadwell. new=cool yolo, ideas for mobo?
|
I'm not sold on broadwell being faster than haswell (or skylake) for gaming, but Idk. Is there any solid reason for it to be?

Broadwell was actually released after Skylake, only days ago. Making it the newest CPU, and the stronger one in games for the same price.
Don't know about mobo for Skylake really, I got the Asus z170-a for mine but I don't overclock so you'll probably want to go for the pro version at least since you plan on doing that.
Good luck with the build.
