So MSI Afterburner won't let me overvolt or clock my 7850 high enough (only lets me go up to 1050Mhz and I'm stable (20mins Kombuster) there with stock volts). Which utility offers higher clock limits while allowing overvolting? I would rather not have to download them all to find out.

Also the fans are tiny, I was expecting them to be 92mm but they are ~80. I guess it doesn't matter though as the card is silent compared to the blower my old card has.

There are work-arounds for MSI Afterburner though I don't know if they still work. People have also mentioned using ASUS GPU Tweak.

The GeForce GT 220 broke down on my other comp.

Im looking to replace it. Budget is not a lot. Maybe around or less than 100 bucks. The computer really isnt used for gaming, and if it is, we're totally content with playing on lowest settings.

Is there a similar card, or something better, that I can find on Amazon or Newegg(preferably).

Something like the lowest-end discrete Radeon HD 6450 from last generation should be better than a GT 220, and that's around $35. But you can get over double the performance of the 6450 at around $50 with an HD 6570, so I'd just get that instead. No need to spend $100.

Just got confirmation from Lars in an interview... BF4 on PS4 runs at 720p upscaled to 1080p and solid 60 fps.

Ha

Final resolution to be decided when the game is optimized or something, but all of the gameplay so far was on high end systems or 1280x720, AFAIK

I ended up downloading a few of them (4) and only Sapphire's Trixx will let me go up to 1.225v and 1300 on the clock.

E:I must be doing something wrong. I'm passing Furmarks 1080p benchmark with 1300 on the clock (1.225v) and ram (5.2effective)...Or do they really overclock this good?

Don't know about AMD side, but some synthetics like furmark ram me straight into power limit. As a result, card downclocks to non boost clocks (from 1300 to.. 1000?) and instability doesn't show.

Regular gaming and unigine heaven run at like 70% of the power limit at max OC (power limit is % of tdp, which is a massively massively overkill 230w for this reason), not way over 100% like furmark

What is your current build?
CPU:Intel Core i5 3570K, Ivy Bridge, 3.4GHz Quad Core, 6MB Cache (overclocked to 4.5GHz)
GPU: Nvidia GTX 260
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H, Intel Z77 Chipset
Power supply: Cooler Master, ATX 12V V2.3 / ESP12V V2.91
Memory: DDR3, 8GB Total (2x4GB) Corsair Vengeance LP, 1600MHz

What is your resolution?
1920x1080

Why do you want to upgrade? What do you want to achieve with the upgrade?
The GPU and power supply, hopefully have a fairly good increase in fps.
As you can see the GPU mainly is a big problem for my system, im fairly sure it's bottlenecking my CPU.

What is your budget?
$450

If you have any brand or retailer preferences, please specify.
Honestly, abit of a Nvidia fanboy, would like to stick with them.

Amazing thread, thanks so much for this!

GTX 760 is ~$260 and a Rosewill Capstone 450 is $60, $320 total. You can go up to a GTX 770 for ~$400 as well but that will put you over budget by a little bit. If you're not in the US / Canada then you won't find a Rosewill Capstone so other options would be Superflower Golden Green 450, Seasonic G 450, and XFX Core Edition 550.

Thanks!

Would it be worth shedding out a few more bucks for the 770 then? (sorry for late reply, couldn't get back to it sooner)

770 has 1536 cores, 760 has 1152. They clock to similar speeds, so with an i5 i'd say yea, do it (if you want a powerhouse gpu that you can throw anything at) I went 260<770 myself. Ignore the clock speeds listed on sites etc - the cards will just automatically run at the max boost clock, and then some. My card will do a 50mhz offset to run @1293mhz on stock voltage +1% and if i limit the fan speed to never pass 65%, my temperatures rarely hit 75c in gaming when many cards run into the 90's.

gtx680/770 is full GK104, the only thing that beats it right now is GK110 in the 780/titan

This thread is solid work skyR.
Probably should make a pop-quiz to ensure that people asking for help have read through the first post in its entirety haha.
