Edit: Yeah I don't like such an expensive B85 motherboard when you can get a Z87 instead! B85/H81 motherboards are good for their low cost and basic functionality.

I think a cheaper processor with an actual GPU would out-perform the A10-5800k but I'm not completely sure what a good set up might be. It seems that it's possible to use this APU though. http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews/1583/pg9/amd-a10-5800k-apu-performance-review-gaming-performance.html http://www.dotatalk.com/amd-a10-5800k-trinity-black-edition-review/ Kaveri is coming out mid January, perhaps it's worth waiting for that. @Skyr: ah Edit: Not sure about 6800k, 5 minutes of google search seemed to indicate it was more expensive than the 5800k for minimal gains: http://www.ocaholic.ch/modules/smartsection/item.php?itemid=1169 To be perfectly frank though, I think a cheapass processor with a 7770 would be better overall. Looking back at previous deals makes it hard to pay full price.

I haven't really been following the news. Anyone know what's up? They spit out a new generation every single year like clockwork. The improvements are usually tiny. The price stays very similar. The previous generation does not drop in price except for clearing out stock.

I don't expect a big jump in performance but I'll take whatever.

For 2014 in particular, they delayed what they originally wanted to have ready, but they'll still release a refresh of their current stuff with some sort of improvement. You'll find articles about this if you search for "2014 haswell refresh broadwell delay", but it's all without juicy details.
