Just purchased FX 9370, for 200 bucks off Amazon, very good deal. Mostly went this route because I got Amazon Gift Card for quite a bit. Decided to go AMD route, also went for this mobo. Ebay seller was selling 250gb samsung evo 840 for 140 dollars.
Now looking for coolers for my cpu, Any good Air solution? Thinking about going standard Noctua set up. EDIT: probably gunna do the CM hyper 212 evo, not a big enough performance difference between CM and Noctua to warrant the extra 50 bucks.

You need the one without "LE" in its name.

4670k is significantly better for just like $10-$20 more...?
And I hope you're ready to spend $200+ on a board because not many, if any budget boards support 200w+ processors.

The FX-8320 is the exact same CPU. The difference is, the FX-9370 was tested and its voltage tables set up to run correctly at 4.4GHz. You can buy the FX-8320 and find out its stable voltage for 4.4GHz yourself.
There's no selection of particularly good CPUs going on, I'm pretty sure. You will not get a CPU that needs less voltage than any random FX-8320 for 4.4GHz. (EDIT: turbo speed is 4.7GHz, it seems, so it's a pretty massive overclock)
You will still need a pretty beefy motherboard for the FX-9370, same as what you'd want to overclock a FX-8320 a good amount, same with the CPU cooler.

OHHH OKAY. Thanks. I'll probably keep the mobo order, and pick up the fx 8320 for 100 bucks at microcenter then. WARNING FOR EVERYONE: Don't DRINK AND BUY PARTS.

Why would you buy motherboard from Newegg if you are buying CPU from Microcenter? Microcenter has CPU + Motherboard bundles that are significantly less expensive than Newegg. That board you purchased probably only costs like $60 at Microcenter.

Iirc the motherboards being offered with fx are of lower quality than the one that newegg have on sale.

The MSI gaming with the twin fan cooler, definately, out of those two. No contest.
Other stuff seems to be more expensive (especially after rebate) so no contest there either, unless there's other sites with better pricing

Thanks for the reply, and for educational purposes, why is it so much better?
|
The cooler is better and it's also clocked a bit faster.
Then again you can probably clock it higher manually.
Not sure if voltage is locked or not though, any way to know from newegg or is google required?

oh okay, thanks for the helps guys!

follow up question on this
how do u know which one has the twin cooling?
is it the fact that theres 2 fans on top?
then would this be a triple cooling?

I bet Cyro just randomly used "twin fan". It's not really anything well defined, I think.
If you are interested in the performance of the coolers, those two fans on the MSI card are not necessarily worse at cooling. The fans look like they are 92mm while that Gigabyte card in your example has 80mm fans. We don't know the speeds of the different fans. Overall, you can't really guess what's better without looking at reviews.

Yea i just meant that because it was obvious that one was the MSI gaming edition with two fans and the other was a blower cooler. The gaming edition (with 2 bigger fans) is a good card capable of the same clocks as any other card, and even voltage unlockable if you want AFAIK (whereas gigabyte 770 for example is not) which means if there's not a cheaper card, there's no reason to get really any of the other 770's aside from stuff like warranties or aesthetics
