Should I just get the mobo ahead of time, have an idea of the rest of the build ready and then wait if there may be possible Boxing Day deals, or just get it before that? What is your budget? Aiming at $900-1100. What is your monitor's native resolution? 1920x1080. What games do you intend to play on this computer? What settings? Mostly CS:GO, and maybe BF4 What do you intend to use the computer for besides gaming? I hope to stream CS:GO, maybe BF4, and stream videos with it. Do you intend to overclock? I do want to overclock the CPU just because I've heard how easy it supposedly is (last time I actively overclocked something was my GeForce MX2 lol). However I don't plan to do anything too drastic like trying to push its max performance or anything. Something relatively stable but at least above stock speeds for the CPU. Do you intend to do SLI / Crossfire? No. Do you need an operating system? No. Do you need a monitor or any other peripherals and is this part of your budget? No. If you have any requirements or brand preferences, please specify. I guess since I want to build around this motherboard (Z87X-D3H), it'd be Intel for CPU. I've been using AMD video cards for quite awhile now, and since their select R9 cards come with BF4, it's just a matter of which to buy. Been looking at the 270X as ~$200 has usually been my price range for video cards. Just not sure if getting the 280X is worth the extra $100. I'm slightly more familiar with XFX for Radeon cards since my current one is a XFX 6870 but I've heard they're bad?. What country will you be buying your parts in? Canada. If you have any retailer preferences, please specify. Preferably NCIX/Canada Computers since there are retail stores close by to me, but it's not too big a deal as long as prices are good and free/cheap shipping. Thanks in advance, Let me know if anything else is needed.

Yeah I saw on NCIX that it was only the XFX or MSI cards. Not as familiar with MSI, but the 270X is $20 cheaper with them on NCIX. Edit: I ended up buying the motherboard =P.

It's not that XFX cards are bad, it's that they don't have custom PCBs like MSI/Gigabyte/Asus and so they don't overclock as well as those from the three big brands (Sapphire too). Coolers from the big brands are also quieter/better. You're looking at better performance getting a card from a big brand compared to XFX or Powercolor. If I were you I might look for a card with BF4. ^^ Motherboard was a good buy either way. I really don't know how price matching works in Canada, though I can recommend getting one of these two PSU for a single GPU set up with mild OC (probably the Capstone, then again there's price matching): http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182066&AID=10657534&PID=3938566&SID=&nm_mc=AFC-C8junctionCA http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151094&AID=10657534&PID=3938566&SID=&nm_mc=AFC-C8junctionCA For a case this looks like a pretty good deal (can't see where shipping is though): http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=11180AC4558&vpn=CC-9011023-WW&manufacture=CORSAIR Oh and thank you Cyro and especially Rollin (!) for the information.

280x is probably worth it if you're concerned with BF4. Seasonic S12II is good but rather old, a bad purchase at $80. Antec Neo Eco 520C is essentially the same thing for $40 after mail in rebate right now though I'd probably wait for next week but then again Canada has shitty choices for power supplies.

CPU: i5 4670k $240 CPU fan: Noctua NH-U14S? $90 I've seen this fan recommended last few times. Mobo: GB Z87X D3H $85 (already bought it) Ram: G Skill RipJaws X 2x4GB $80 I've seen various frequencies of this being recommended, not sure which would be best. GPU: XFX or MSI R9 280X $320 Case: Fractal Core 3000? $45 Still kind of undecided on a case, the Define R4 looks pretty though. PSU: Seasonic G450 $85 I think I want to aim for a cleaner build this time, so that's why I was thinking about a modular PSU. SSD: ADATA SX900? 256GB $150 What are your thoughts on this compared to Samsung 840 Evo/Crucial M500 which I've seen recommended in the last couple pages? I'm not very good at comparing SSD's except for their read/write speeds. Other possibility, Corsair Force Series GS 240GB $180 Also, does Intel's SRT work only on Intel SSDs? I heard about it when watching some build videos, and might use that and get a smaller SSD like 180GB or something instead. HDD: Decided to just salvage my 2x 500GB Seagate Barracudas. Totals between $1095 to $1125 before tax at their current prices depending on SSD and case choice.

edit: Both ADATA and Samsung drives are the same if you're just gonna use it as a boot drive, whichever one is cheaper. Though personal pick would be the Evo for that overall reliability and the fact that I own one(128gb version).
