Starcraft 2 what i need for it?RAM , Laptop

Ram wont do much for you, unless you have 3 other games running in the background or render videos while playing sc2. Do the following, once sc2 runs, open the taskmanager and kill the agent.exe Also, try and see if the unit preloader (map in the arcade) can help to solve your issue.

Alryk United States2718 Posts June 20 2013 23:59 GMT #5 The XMG P503 would be a very decent upgrade over your PC even though it's a laptop, as would the P502 (plus you'd be supporting HSC!) but keep in mind that overclocking your PC or (if upgrading) building a desktop are both much more cost efficient than buying a laptop. You definitely pay for the portability.

Cyro United Kingdom20285 Posts June 21 2013 00:04 GMT #6 No reason to run sc2 on low with a 5870. Ghz is not an absolute measure of a CPU's performance. AMD is selling, in their words, 8-core CPU's @4ghz for £155 while intel's lowest priced overclockable quad core of current gen (the i5 4670k) is £194 and unlocked i7 is £275 - yet AMD is in a lot of trouble in the desktop CPU market, why? Both of them have 4 cores, they're clocked at 3.5ghz and they wreck the offering that is higher clocked with twice as many cores. Stock vs Stock, according to Anandtech's numbers (which seem about right to me) in cinebench 11.5, the i7 takes a ~17% performance lead in multithreaded performance and a ~62% performance lead in singlethreaded performance. Guess which one sc2 cares about? Having the CPU with the most cores, or highest clock speed (ghz) is silly Kinda pointless to even talk about hardware or internet when the OP did not say what he means by "lag" and it has basically become an endlessly broad term for "things not working properly"

Zax19 Czech Republic1136 Posts June 21 2013 06:03 GMT #8 Ram shouldn't help in this case, maybe try loading the custom map where you can see all units and buildings before you ladder so that SC2 pre-loads all the models and such. The desktop you have should be more than enough for SC2, try using a program like Defraggler to selectively defragment the SC2 folder. As it was said above, we need more info. The laptop is great, although it will get relatively loud. As for the configuration, the starter graphics card 670MX is great but it comes with only a 120W adapter which is on the low side and if you want to overclock then the 675MX comes with a 180W adapter which is heavier, bigger but offers enough power to overclock the graphics card while using an i7. 2x4GB ram is safe and the upgrade cost is reasonable but you could save money, get only 4GB and upgrade later. Considering the CPU, if you feel like your desktop jitters sometimes then pick the i7-3630QM. For general gaming an i5 would be sufficient but value for money the i7 is a better investment than an SSD. For the HDD, if you don't want to spend money on an SSD then the 1000GB SATA-III should be a good value for money (37 Euro upgrade). Otherwise upgrade at least to the 750GB SATA-II for 20 Euro. If you want to spend on an mSATA SSD (a luxury) the 128GB Samsung should be more than enough. And finally, if you live in Germany then consider getting a 36M or 48M warranty, it's not the cheapest but considering the hardware the laptop might enough for gaming even after 5 years so it's good in case anything breaks.

Would be helpful to know what exactly you mean by 'lag' The worst spec PC I've got running is an i3, 8GB RAM, GTX 460 running SC2 on high-max settings and not struggling with a single thing, even in large battles... SC2 isn't a demanding game in the slightest, I know people that run it on the AMD Trinity series on high settings without a hitch!

Aelfric Turkey1496 Posts June 21 2013 09:18 GMT #10 SC2 is all about single cpu power so you should go with intel since it doesn't use more than 2 cores. AMD thread performance way worse than intel and the new haswell is really good.
