Hey so I'm getting a computer with a Nvidia GTX680 and I am purchasing a BenQ XL2420T Monitor (120hz) as well.

Can I use this monitor with the graphics card?

ALSO

I see it has a list of input plugs, do I have to use ALL of them?

Graphics card Input:
One Dual Link DVI-I, One Dual Link DVI-D, One HDMI, One DisplayPortStandard Display Connectors

Monitor Input:
D-sub / DVI-DL (Dual Link) / HDMI x 2 / DP 1.2 / Headphone Jack

So if you can please comment below with the following answers:
1) Will it work?
2) Which plugs do I have to use

Thanks!

If you want to get 120 hertz as your framerate you'll have to use DP. If you can't pull 120 frames then there is no reason to get a monitor that supports it. You can use hdmi or DVI in that case. HDMI nor DVI have enough bandwith to support 120 fps. I don't think either of those come with a DP cable either so you'll have to buy one.

Edit: Dual link dvi also apparently does 120 hz. Was wrong on that.

Ok thanks.

So I would only need to connect it via display port? (for 120)

I currently have both and you only need the dual link DVI cable which the monitor comes with.

This is false. Dual link DVI supports 1920x1080@120hz, as confirmed both by the specs and the fact that I'm running it right now.

I am currently using that monitor with a gtx 680. It should work fine, but as people already mentioned you need either dual link DVI or display port to get 120hz. You will get up 60hz if you use HDMI. A dual link DVI cable was included when I bought my monitor, but it it isnt included it shouldn't be too hard to find a place that sells them.

When will noobs stop posting this stupid info which is completely false?
The framerate doesn't matter, it just looks extra nice with 120fps too but it doesn't matter.

Sorry but this is absolutely wrong, if you're not pulling anymore than 60fps in game, there will literally be 0 difference compared to a normal 60 hz monitor.

You're the one spreading misinfo. If you only gets 60 frames or less then your monitor can't display more than 60 frames. It's not going to magically show frames that your computer isn't rendering.

Exactly, the only difference is that the 120hz monitor will allow you to play in 3d if you are willing to.

HDMI 1.4, dual-link DVI, and DisplayPort all can push 120hz. With HDMI 1.4, be careful because some implementations prevent you from using all of its bandwidth. Its a noted problem with the Benq XL2420 model that doesn't come with glasses/emitter and some 2560x1440 screens (i.e. Dell U2711). DisplayPort is better anyway.

Assuming the 120hz monitor has perfect overdrive application (so not Benq), 60hz gaming on it will be slightly better than 60hz monitors since its still refreshing the screen faster than a 60hz monitor so there's still theoretically less latency between frames. The problem is that there are a lot of very good 60hz monitors and a lot of very good monitors that can push 72-75hz (you can Google but a few IPS monitors can do this) that have better image quality, good overdrive settings, and lower prices than a good 120hz native monitor.

yea my current monitor is an Asus VH236H that gets up to 75hz but it only gets up to 60hz in 1920x1080

this is correct. to all the people trying to correct me:

I personally use DVI Dual Link on my BenQ XL2420T. I'm primarily a competitive FPS gamer, so the 120Hz is extremely noticeable and makes for a very impressive improvement over the standard 60Hz.
To the people saying "if you can't push 120FPS you won't notice the difference from 60Hz" you're quite wrong. The only scenario where this is true is if you have vsync enabled.

I recommend using DVI DL over HDMI and DisplayPort since it's generally higher quality, slightly less latency and in my experience has less that can go wrong. If you're running a GTX680, there are very few games that will fail to push 120FPS ingame, so enjoy the silky smooth gameplay ^_^

(Protip: the Black Equalizer on the XL2420T is incredibly useful if you're a competitive gamer)
