Hi, bought a Gigabyte GTX 560 TI a few days ago along with a new 120 hz monitor. Everything worked fine for about a day or so, then glitches started appearing and now it looks like it is completely dead. When the power went off or sleep mode was activated, the card would go ballistic and show the normal dead card pixel graphics. This did however improve after i killed power and started it back up again. Now however it takes about 1 minute after a new boot and the image i have disappears.

So this card is dead on arrival right? I mean there are no stupid power save settings that can affect this since the card does pull some more juice then my previous one. I have also checked that both fans were running and monitored temps when i got the card and they both looked fine.

Merely feel i have to ask this dumb question since i have sick luck with dead cards, all in all this is my fourth one i've gotten i think. I just find it odd that it worked after i killed power, started dying after sleep modes and finally just gave up. Like the lifecycle of a old card dying experienced with a new card.

Thankfull for a reply.

it could be that the monitor was running at 60hz the first day and you were just using a regular DVI cable, not a dual link dvi cable required for most bigger monitors (IPS 16:10) and 120hz monitors. Chances are if your using a DVI its not dual link DVI and this is why your Graphics card is showing pixelating images etc. What make is the monitor by chance?

edit: if you restart you system and everything is fine thats a weird predicament. :S I still think it could be a problem with the cable and if you are using a dual link dvi cable then its most likely the GPU.

First of, what driver are you using?

There is a common problem with the latest driver to that card (i have the same card) that can make it show dead pixels. (Cant link to nvidia forums, they are down for maintence atm.)

Try downgrading to driver version 9573, worked for me.
yeah yeah im going

Hmm how much dead pixels did you have? It started with my entire screen looking like: http://www.humus.name/News/deadgpu1.jpg

and it only did this after like a day or two, when i first got it in everything was 100% fine, no trace of dead pixels. And as i was writing this message i couldn't see anything but grey lines so even worse then the pic. I did however run the latest drivers.

Have a dual link DVI cable and was running 120 hz, it's neither cable or screen however since i have my old card in now and everything is fine. The monitor is a Samsung S23A700D. And yeah im baffled by the fact that it worked after i shut the computer off and then on again. A normal reboot = not killing power completely and it didn't fix it.

That looks like a dying GPU or lawlbad drivers.

Do these artifacts happen during post sequence or is this ONLY while booting into windows.

Consider rolling back to old drivers.

Triple check all connections.

Then, try swapping in just an old GPU. Then, try swapping in just an old monitor.

Do all of these steps and then come back to me. Also, if we could find out what make and model that power supply actually is, that would be great. If its diablotek or something like that, who knows.

Ok, not like that, thats something completly different. I still recomend downgrading your gpu drivers, if that doesnt work ask for a new card!

I think there was another thread where a GTX 560 TI owner fixed his problem downgrading GPU memory, but his problem was just appearing in SC2 and was less extreme than yours. I had artefacts in sc2 sometimes with my GTX 560 TI, and shutting down/Rebooting computer fixed the problem each time, so it also looks like yours..
But the way your screen looks totally looks like when my old GPU died :/

Lol similar shit happend to me bro xD
Bought a GTX 560, plugged it in worked ok, then started to flicker on and off during games, no over heating problems just flickering, had to send it back and got another which worked fine. RMA it!

It was happening constantly, and it turned out to be the screen. Tried it on three diff GPUs and eventually it went ballistic on them all, even swapped DVI cables around and proboem remained. On a HDMI > DVI to my GPU atm and so far its been good. But will still RMA it however.

On a more weird note, my girlfriend bought the same screen and this morning her screen wouldn't turn itself on, even when swapping her power cord for mine(which worked on mine) then about 6 hours later it just worked again. This Samsung model seems pretty damn sketchy tbh. Theres a few youtube videos up of people with the same problem as i have for instance.

Power supply is a Cooler master GX 650W
