I'm looking to buy a new monitor around €150 and after scanning countless reviews and websites I'm currently looking at the LG IPS237L or the BenQ GW2450HM. I will be using the monitor for playing SC2, image editing and print production. Because of the latter two I'm pretty picky about my colors (I'm aware 'picky' doesn't really count at this budget.. but as picky as I can be at least).

Does anyone have a recommendation for either of these two, or another monitor you think would suit me better?

Both monitors are completely different - the LG is IPS while the BenQ is AMVA. IPS will probably be better for print production simply because top and bottom will be relatively even while AMVA still has minor problems with this. But for gaming and movies, I would probably pick the GW2450 because it has vastly better contrast and black depth than any IPS monitor on the market.

I can't think of any better options at that price range. But neither can be considered horrible monitors, outside of default colour accuracy.

Ordered a Dell U2412M for doing work on. Quite excited. I was looking at the Asus PA248Q but decided to go with Dell since my other 2 monitors are Dells and they have never caused me trouble (even my trusty old 1907FP which I have been using for 6 years now). It says it won't be delivered until the 14th of June but I have my doubts. When I ordered my U2312HM it said it would take 2 weeks and it got here within 4 days. It says on there site it takes 8 days to build my order but I doubt the accuracy of that since there is nothing to build.

Yes, the predicted delivery date is nearly always wrong. The strange delivery time is there so Dell can protect their asses in case their warehouse runs out of stock during some crazy sale. If its during normal times, they ship far faster than they claim.

Its better than Lenovo, which has extremely long wait periods for custom made hardware.

Hey guys i was thinking about upgrading my old monitor to something at least 100hz could any1 help me out choosing the best monitor from this store ??

Someone back in the day recommended benq and also they support ogn/spl so its nice to support them back i guess.

i mainly play SC2 and LOL so i guess 24 inches would be great. 3d would be nice as well for movies but not really necessary

Damn, £250, how good is that monitor? Is it high end or just passable?

Maybe i was just out of touch for prices - it's hard to pass up 1920x1080 144hz for £250

Its a modern 120hz monitor. They all use the same matte coated 24" panel from some Taiwanese manufacturer who name currently escapes me.

Its a tad worse than the Asus equivalent but that probably doesn't matter a whole lot. It'll probably look exactly the same with some decent calibration settings and you won't even notice the minor reverse ghosting if you do the Lightboost trick.

Yup. It said 8 days before it would ship on the site. It shipped this morning. Probably will be here Tuesday or Wednesday, my guess is.

Reverse ghosting is the same as ghosting except instead of pale trails, you see dark shadows. It has a little bit but only if you use a DSLR and actually try and capture it.

As for the 27" version, don't bother with it unless you really want a 27" monitor. The pixel pitch is bad and the panel type is TN, which means the top of the screen is going to look different to the bottom of the screen.

Got my U2412M. Took 3 business days from ordering to getting to my door. Dell's shipping stuff is wrong as usual yet super fast hahaha.

I am really digging it so far. It is so much taller feeling than my U2312HM. Absolutely no backlight bleed or yellowing at all, which is nice because my U2312HM had a bit of each. The backlighting is perfectly even throughout. I really hit the jackpot with this one. I was worried I was going to have backlight bleed, since that is common on these.

Playing SC2 on it is a bit weird though since it shows less picture and all the UI stuff is bigger compared to 16: 9 (which happens with any non-16: 9 aspect ratio. It is even crazier on my 5:4 aspect ratio 19" monitor). I am getting used to it and am actually starting to like it a bit. I could always use my U23 for playing SC2 if I choose.

I have ended up using the USB ports on my new monitor, something I have never done before. I plan to use this monitor a lot with my Mac so to switch between machines I just unplug the USB port that links to my PC and plug that into my Mac. I also have a DisplayPort to mini-DisplayPort cable on the way so I don't have to deal with dongles anymore, I can just use that instead. Switching between my desktop and my Mac will literally just be two cable swaps now instead of having to unplug and reroute all my cables so my keyboard cable reaches comfortably (Filcos have ridiculously short cables) and having to fight with DVI ports (plugging those in without being able to see them is a pain).

There has to be a way to play the game at 1920x1080 with 60pixel black bars above and below the image.

Heh, I saw the price and immediately thought "damn, that's pretty cheap" followed immediately by "oh yeah, the picture quality sucks now".
For some reason, the new 144Hz XL2411T and VG248QE have both regressed significantly in terms of picture quality compared to their predecessors. I don't know how they managed to get it this bad or if it's caused by pushing the panels to 144Hz but something went horribly wrong here and I'm curious to know what.

I can force it through my GPU drivers if I remember right (I've done that in the past with my U2312HM), but i have to decide if I want to yet. I like having a bigger mini-map. It is significantly bigger like this, though the trade off is a less wide view (a certain amount is cut off each side).

Been looking at the Dell S2740L since I really want a somewhat responsive, nice semi/glossy IPS monitor. It looks good on all parts except for some variable ghosting issues and that it's only 1080p on a 27". I would go for the S2440L instead because that's the logical choice with 1080p on a 24", but for some reason it's not IPS. Annoying. Any other newer choices on cheaper semi-glossy monitors around 24" to 27"?

Looking to buy the Asus VG278HE
- But I don't need 3d support, integrated audio, or 27".
Something around 20-22" is fine... (though size is not important really, aslong as it's not around 17" 18"..etc.
(i'm mostly used to 1280x1024, but again not important.)

I need the screen to be able to run at 1024x768 at max hz - 640x480 has to be supported aswell.

Is there an alternative flat screen with same performance? (need high screen update rate)..

If I were to go for a CRT instead - what would be a good option?
Thanks for input

Narrowed it down abit ::
Asus 24" LED VG248QE
or
BenQ 24" 3D LED XL2411T ?

Or is there a third option?

Quick question here, I think I'm settled on the u2412m. I noticed the note saying wait for a Dell sale or coupon. Right now on amazon it's 279.00 with free shipping, is that about as good as I can hope for?

edit: bought it after looking around some at prices and price history

The two 24" 120hz monitors are the only real options today. They all should have 1:1 scaling so you'll be able to play Stacraft on it.

The best CRT is the Sony FW900. They're likely to be in bad condition and/or have a high asking price because they were easily the best CRTs for gaming.
