tenkeyless is amazing; I prefer both. I don't use the numpad often, but when I do it feels nice to have around. But in the end, I think I prefer tenkeyless the most simply because its so space-saving and feels like theres a lot more breathing room / less clutter with the numpad off. It's a preference thing in the end.

It's better ergonomically if you don't have the tenkeys. Otherwise you end up putting strain on your shoulder because your mouse has to be shifted more to the right.

If your keyboard is placed in the right place you don't need a tenkeyless, I only optd for a fc500r because i don't like typing numbers without a numpad, I don't see any strain or feel strain on my shoulders while playing/browsing/working.

I use the numpad a lot, I assume a lot of people do as well for numbers related jobs.

Because those people don't use the numpad and yes the numpad does take up quite a bit of space. Only reasons to have a numpad for that I can think of is for data entry and secondary hotkeys for an MMO.

Most people don't, but it's really nice to have it available for the odd time when it does prove useful. To me it just seems like you're getting less of a keyboard. Like, not a complete board.

Thats not true.... all the Numpad keys are on the tenkeyless board. With a full sized your just getting extra numbers /*-+. and enter.

Dunno if you've tried, but if you want to do some maths calculations for whatever reason it's a total pain in the ass without a numpad and that alone is reason for me to never get a tenkeyless board

Filco and some other brands sell seperate tenkey pads so you can use a tenkeyless board and still have the use of the tenkeys when you need it.

I just got myself a lovely new Filco Majestouch 2 Ninja with Cherry Browns and couldn't be happier with the way the things types and feels and sounds.

I'm just a bit noob when typing and when my hands get out of position I tend to just look down at the keyboard to make the adjustment on the fly. With the letters printed on the front with this baby, its not quite as easy as it used to be =)

I just see it as an incentive to master my typing skills without having to look at the keyboard, which wastes precious time in SC2 anyway.

BTW that Corsair looks amazing!

I really recommend learning typing with ten fingers. It makes it a whole lot easier to type without looking at the board (at least if you don't want typos). I went from my selfmade type style using 6-8 fingers to touch typing with 10 within a month. Find some program (there's online ones as well as software, some are free) and use it as much as you can each day and you'll probably get a hang of it pretty soon. It doesn't matter if you take it slow in the beginning as the most important aspect is to "deprogram" your fingers usual pattern. You won't neccesarily type much faster but it should lead to less typos and less need to look at the keyboard. Good luck!

Good keyboards have number lock so you get a pseudo-num pad. Saves space and works just as well.

It has a horrible feel to it in my opinion o.O Love my numpad, also there\s no enter key in the proper spot like that

With desktop keyboards its fine but I have no idea why they exist on laptops. The number pad takes up so much horizontal space that it forces manufacturers to put speakers at the top of the machine instead of the sides. This then forces them to implement either screens with huge bezels, since no one but Apple uses 16:10 panels, or unergonomic off-center touchpads the size of sticky notes.

Its honestly not that hard to use, if its good enough for IBM/Lenovo Thinkpads its good enough for me. The enter key is to the right of the number pad matrix...its not much different unless you are so reactionary that new things hurt you. If you try it for a week, without already making making a conclusion at the start, its honestly not any different from a real physical numberpad.

Just got my Steelseries g7 and my god is it amazing. Coming from a G15, a cheapy keyboard before that, an inlaid keyboard (think laptop) with see through keys and blue back lighting. Nothing compares to this feel of typing. And this is still like hour one. Major downside so far is the backspace is the size of a regular key instead of a bigger bar that's 2-3 keys wide. Will take a bit of getting used to but everything else feels fine. Don't have time to sit with SC2 tonight and try it out, but typing so far has been so much more enjoyable. Takes so much less space than most keyboards do, the f keys seem a bit closer and having the F keys + a Steelseries key activate music is a pretty cool idea to save space and look less gimmicky. Overall so far first feel is a 9/10

I'm gonna buy this keyboard (red switch) when it'll be available in U.S... looks so fucking sexy lol. Definitively i felt in love lol

Either way, you guys can buy it here. :'D

Here you have more about it: http://www.cmstorm.com/en/products/keyboards/quickfirerapidred/

That looks very sweet, i havnt heard much good stuff about red switches but if they are just a lighter version of blacks they should be ok, lack of numpad is a bit weird though

Very nice.

Why did you go for a compact keyboard if I may ask?

I never noticed the f keys on the choc mini is right above the numbers. Would be a perfect keyboard for my hotkeys, using f keys as well. hmmm damn for now ill stick to my das.

It's also better for gaming because those numbers are so far out of reach for your left hand you are basically forced to waste time moving or use your right hand, not not only that ON THE FLY the dimensions of the keyboard pretty much tell you where everything is.

e.g if I need to use the arrow keys on my Leopold brown tenkeyless (for whatever reason) i know they are so close to the edge that my touch sense can figure it out without much though going into it. I don't think i could ever go back to full-size unless i become an accountant, which will never happen.
