I would look at geek hack for a review of the orange switches. No one in this thread has that board to my knowledge. I do have a QFR, and would recommend it. Spacing between keys is a bit wonky for hands like mine (larger) but I don't mind it at all.

Why would no one have that board? What about the green switches?

No idea. It's relatively new, just not heard anything about it. Geekhack being a keyboard oriented forum seems more likely they would have an in depth review on it. No personal experience with green switches.

Hey guys, how should I clean my keyboard? My brother got some stuff in it and I don't want my WASD to keep having this stick issue.

I guess you could try an aerosol can of something to clean electrical contacts for this. The spray cans usually come with a straw to put on the nozzle which you can use to target it into the gap you see when pressing down on the switches with the key cap pulled off. Then let it dry well which should work alright as the aerosol is mostly alcohol and evaporates easily.

There's silicone based grease to try to combat stickiness. I don't know what's better to try, electrical contact cleaner or the grease.

Also punch your brother. It should really be his job to get the keyboard to work right again.

Well I went and tried the razer switches at the store today. Was not impressed.

Was considering getting a qf stealth with Browns. Would I be better to spend a bit more and get a celeritas or filco? I really like the look of a keyboard which enables increasing key repeat rate easy. New Zealand means Amazon price plus 20-50 for shipping.

I'm trying to finally look into mechanical keyboards but my local stores are just bad. I found a test kit from an American vendor that looks awesome and was wondering if anyone here can recommend something similar from Germany or at least Europe.

Any vendor recommendations for Germany in general when it comes to mechanical keyboards?

Just from what I've read/seen online so far I believe I'm looking for either brown or red switches, maybe with o-rings, maybe without. I'd just prefer having a test kit like the above from somewhere instead of ordering a couple of different keyboards and sending them back again. :3

I broke my blackwidow (hurray!) so I can justify getting a new keyboard now. I'm looking at browns, and a tenkeyless, for a decent price. So far I've found the Corsair Vengeance K65 brown and the CM Storm Quickfire Rapid Brown.

Anyone know anything about this? Reviews seem to say they're both decent keyboards. I've had blues for a while, and even though I like the click, it's noisy, and I can't really have a noisy keyboard as long as I don't live by myself.

Figured I'd check here if any of you have any experience with either of them, or can recommend something similar. I'm looking for keyboards that can be found on the website the two links lead to. Free shipping hurrah!

Oh, right. I've never tried reds, I've tried browns, but my buddy swears to the K65, so I'm trusting him on it. Either way I'm leaning more towards the quickfire. Though the corsair looks like the keys are more easily detached.

Corsair keyboards don't have a shroud so they're easy to clean. They do use non-standard modifier keycaps though so if you want custom keycaps, it'll be more difficult finding it for the K65.

I'm not really interested in custom keycaps. As long as it's possible to get replacement caps if that's necessary, I'm good.

What are immediate dis/advantages for Topre Realforce 104UW (or 105UB, still deciding), compared to keyboards with Cherry MX switches (Das Model S Ultimate or Ducky 9008G2 PBT Keycaps). Quality over all.

Topres are high quality and most of them come stock with PBT keycaps. It's a different switch than cherry MX, it's a high-end rubberdome but it has springs so it sorta qualifies for a mech board. What can I say, there's very little variety for custom keycaps for topres. Those topres are variable force boards, which means there are different weight switches in the same board, IIRC 30g and 45g as opposed to Topres uniform boards (30g, 45 and 55g, though 30g are impossible to come by, at least outside of china/jp)

All the boards mentioned are high quality (perhaps DAS is a bit meh) and essentially it comes down to whether you like topre or cherry mx.

Yo! Just bought the mechanical keyboard. And... I got mixed feelings about it. Everything's fine exept keys are way too high and it somehow limits my precision and overall it just feels wierd and uncomfortable. Like pressing Cntr+* is already a problem. Plus, keyborad itself is high and i have to position my palm above it so... ah don't know how to explain it right but may be somebody get what i'm trying to say? Any1 got this problem or is it just me? May be it's a matter of habbit? any thoughts?

If you search for a keyboard wristrest they're fairly common and cheap. That might fix your elevation problems.

It's just a matter of getting used to, my friend wears headphones left side on right because he somehow managed to get used to it.

But that's not just different, it's worse because it screws up a lot of stuff like positional audio in games (you hear somebody ~5 meters to the left and 1 meter back.. but surprise, he's in a completely different place)

Ever since he started playing fps games he somehow managed to wear them the wrong way and he hears just fine, maybe his brain has rewired.
