Thinking about picking up a CM Storm quickfire stealth cause they're relatively cheap and I've been wanting a blue switch keyboard for awhile. I know they've been generally recommended on here and on other places, the only thing that's giving me pause are poor reviews on newegg due to build quality issues/keys malfunctioning. Is this a real issue or is this one of those cases where the only people reviewing the thing are people who've had it break?

The one that's usually recommended is the "quickfire rapid".

I was under the impression that qfr and qf stealth were basically the same costar board underneath.

There are build quality issues/key malfunctions on almost all mech products that aren't filco or leopold so take poor reviews with a grain of salt; far as I know CM has a fairly reputable customer service support for their keyboards on the mechanical keyboard subreddit.

I used to own a CM Storm Quickfire Rapid brown switch, and a CM Storm Quickfire Stealth red switch before I switched over to my Keycool-108 with blues (I donated both keyboards to friends). I have never had any issues at all with either keyboard and only gave them away as gifts/excuses to get a new mechanical keyboard experience. Both of them as far as I know are still being used after 2-3 years of use between me and my friends.

A similar keyboard to look into would be the Ducky Zero TKL board w/Blues. A gaming enthusiast friend of mine replaced his Blackwidow (shit board) with it after I gave some recommendations; he instantly fell in love with it and I've actually swapped boards with him for a week with my Stealth. It's a pretty sick TKL, you may be iffy on the windows key caps but I think it's cute. Similar pricing and Ducky has a great reputation for reliable boards.

Good luck!!! Once you go mechanical it's hard to go back

yeah I just wanted to hear from anyone who had one to see if it starts breaking down after awhile. It's been recommended on reddit as well and at this point I'm willing to believe the only people reviewing on newegg are those that got broken units or something.

And as far as I can tell they're the same, it's just where the lettering is printed on the keycaps.

edit- thanks for the recommendation, but I've got some amazon gift cards so the keyboard would end up being cheaper on amazon anyway. Plus I like the side printed lettering, I think that's a nice look.

yeah I have a leopold with brown switches, I've just been wanting a blue switch mechanical for awhile and didn't want to pay ~120 for like a filco

Yea that was my question. If cm qfs is the same build as cm qfr, then it's gonna be literally the same board as a filco tenkeyless.

As in, I am under the impression that both filco and qfr are the same costar board, just sold by different parties.

From what I've read it's the same OEM but Filco's board has better build quality for whatever reason, so it's not the exact same KB

Amazon said they'd have boards in by the 7th but now they're not so I guess I hold off for a little bit until they have em back in stock or whatever.

Are there any mechanical keyboards with white color, and white keycaps? Like the "year of the Rabbit" version from Ducky?

filco and leopold both make white/white boards, and the poker 2, keycool 84/87, and Race all have white/white options as well. the white filco is pretty hard to find, though.

Is it only some of the keys or all keys of the keyboard?

I'd try silicone based grease (not sure if that's the right type) or some sort of electrical contact cleaner in an aerosol spray can, a tiny drop or tiniest possible spray into the pressed down switch from the top.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll try the grease. To clarify, it happens all over the major part of the main sector (letters and numbers) - where it has quickly increased from being an occasional hiccup to being a regular problem over the past weeks. The num block, f-keys, arrows, and function block seem fine - or I simply haven't noticed because I don't use them as frequently.

Just leaving a quick note: After greasing the switches, my keyboard works again without any "bouncing", so thanks again to Ropid for his recommendation.

Qtan sells the Poker and white versions of the Leopold FC660m.

Banggood sells various Keycool boards and I think the Poker

This guy at geekhack sells the Leopold FC700R in white/white, and I believe he is getting the newer FC705 as well.

I think Amazon sometimes has the white Filco.

Elite Keyboards sells white/white versions of the Realforce boards and the Happy Hacking board, though both of them use grey modifier keys.

All kinds of things show up on the geekhack classifieds section and /r/mechmarket on reddit.

I don't think Qtan is recommended as a seller anymore in general unless it's your only option.

Anyone know what switches Maru is rocking at the minute? It appears he is using a white Leopold FC700R from his recent proleague games, instead of his old Qsenn.

Hedging percentages I would guess browns, but he is not on the outdated Liquipedia gear page at all.

Today I found an IBM model M 1391401 from 24-FEB-94 at my university, in midst of electronic garbage. It has no cable and is kinda dirty (yellow look), but I'll work on it and buy a cable.
It made my day, and I am a happy man.

What mechanical keyboard up too 120$ would you recommend? I am thinking about CM Storm Quickfire XT with MX Blue switches - is anyone using it and could share an opinion?

Do you know if the quickfire pro is any good? Occasionally I find it on slickdeals for about $50 after rebate. I haven't found any deals on the quickfire rapid though.
