one thing to consider: rubber domes response to keystrokes can slower and more unreliable as the keys are worn down. a mechanical switch doesn't have this problem. it's either going to be reliable or it won't work. imo more than worth the money if you're going to use it for gaming.
Throw on your favorite jacket and you're good to roll. Stroll through the trees and let your miseries go.

Like how people say mechanical keyboards are always better than rubber domes? Pretty hypocritical if you ask me.

What? People say mechanicals are better than rubber domes because they are, in a measurable and objective way.

Mechanical keyswitches are rated for longer operation than rubber domes: Fact. Rubber domes tend to wear down and feel increasingly mushy along their lifespan, something that doesn't happens with mechanicals: Fact. Mechanical keyboards are, overall, of a higher quality in terms of construction, which is offset by a higher price: Also a fact.

There is nothing about this that is down to personal opinion. The difference between cherry and costar stabilizers however, is completely based on just that.

I guess I just don't understand how people undervalue consistency in switch feeling after spending time to find the perfect switch for them (mx red, blue, brown, rubber dome etc.)

To think mechanical keyboards will make any significant difference to your play is foolish. The main reason everyone raves about mechanical keyboards is because of the comfort they provide. If you browse this website, you no doubt spend a lot of time at your computer. Since you're interacting through a keyboard so often, doesn't it make sense that you'd want to make that experience more enjoyable? If you are an avid movie-watcher, you could view movies on a small standard definition television, but if you're really passionate about it you might buy a large HD TV and a surround sound set-up. The cinematography, plot, acting, etc is all the same, but the overall experience is a little more enjoyable for having put in that extra money.

I assume that grabbing one of the 104-key sets from WASD would most likely fit a Das keyboard fine? While I like the blank black look, probably looking to throw all white keys in there for now before I start manually modifying future mech boards that I'm interested in trying.

How long ago did you buy the Das? They have updated their design recently

or does it have media functions?

or on the bottom row of keys near the spacebar, are they all the same size? or are the windows and fn/menu keys smaller than the ctrl and alt? (1x unit-width bottom row keys are not made by WASD). But if they're all the same size on either side of the spacebar then they are all 1.25x width... and a WASD set works fine.

To be honest I can feel my friend's mx blue keyboard has been worn. The keys are not like they where when they were brand new.

Are there any other keyboards similar to the Corsair ones? I love the lack of a "body" as it makes it much easier to clean.

An example (Corsair K65):

So I've purchased a filco majestouch2 with brown switches. What is the best method for cleaning it etc?

Also from people who have a similar keyboard, do you find that you need a wrist rest?

I just got my CM quickfire TK red for using at work. Still getting used to the red switches, but I think I'll come to enjoy it. The only issue I've had so far is that the enter key on the numpad won't work if numlock is off. This is also mentioned in some random thread without a resolution: http://forum.coolermaster.com/viewtopic.php?f=58&p=117317

Does anyone know if a firmware update took care of this? It's not like the key maps to anything else when numlock is off.... any fixes?
Theory is when you know everything but nothing works. Practice is when everything works but no one knows why. In our lab, theory and practice are combined: nothing works and no one knows why.

NICE @surLoop

Cleaning keycaps individually can be done with denture cleaning 'tabs'. Personally I would prob just use paper towels and a big jar of warm lightly soapy water. For the body I just use a lightly damp napkin. If its a high glossy surface (das, older razer) good luck not scratching it... as it is merely plastic.

@Oblivious you could try posting that in their vendor forum on geekhack; http://geekhack.org/index.php?board=135.0
....or try; ye 'ol customer support.

Looking into getting my first mechanical keyboard maybe. I currently have a Logitech UltraX flat kind of laptop-like keyboard.
I am interested in the QuickFire XT, can I get some thoughts on it?

Hey guys I was looking to buy a Leopold fc700r from gmarket.co.kr and I was just wondering before I buy it from Korea if there are any Australian stores that sell it and ship internationally, more specifically to New Zealand. The only store I could find was pccasegear.com which only ships to Aus. Thanks

I just got the black corsair k70. The 104 key version of this. It's such a beautiful keyboard. It's cherry stabilizers for some reason feel better than the ones on the poker 2 I used to own.

If a black, costar stabilizer version of the k65 came out, that would be a must by for me.

I got the new Corsair K95 and I love the raised keys or lack of a "body" as you mentioned. I hated how much stuff ends up inside the keyboards and becomes such a chore to clean. With these solid based keyboards a bit of air does wonders.
